@mott-the-hoople saidI can judge that it's loony to burn Harry Potter books.
who made you a judge of when someone can exercise their rights?
If you can't, there's really something wrong with you.
@no1marauder saidYeah, and the pressure on the baseball team,
I can judge that it's loony to burn Harry Potter books.

TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS, to phase out the word
DEVIL because of satanic overtones.
So now they're, 'The Tampa Bay Rays.'

@no1marauder saidsure you can…and look like a fool doing so. everyone doesnt have to conform to your thinking

@mott-the-hoople saidIt seems you are introducing a straw man. If everyone has rights, right, then if one person wants to burn books, and another comments on their burning, isn't this the way freedom is supposed to manifest itself?
are you suggesting these people dont have a right to do this?
Or are you asking for the the right not to be criticized, or the right not to be ridiculed?
Anyone here remember not too long ago when conservatives were complaining about Dr. Seuss books being "cancelled"? How they blamed "the left" and attacked them for being insane? Remember how they lost their minds over it?
Well that wasn't even true, some Seuss books were simply pulled due to racist caricatures. Fast forward, here they are burning Harry Potter books and defending it.
But you know the drill. Republicans are sickening hypocrites. It's the only thing consistent about them.

@mott-the-hoople saidDo you see the irony of your claim that not everyone has to conform to your thinking whilst defending the burning of a book?
sure you can…and look like a fool doing so. everyone doesnt have to conform to your thinking
@kevcvs57 saidI dont see any irony at all…I feel everyone is free to burn a book. It is not my place to tell them they cant. It is freedom of speech. But libs are against freedom of speech arent they?

@vivify saiddo you feel parents do not have a right to determine what their children are taught?

@mott-the-hoople saidIn their home, sure.
do you feel parents do not have a right to determine what their children are taught?
In schools? Not completely. Kids shouldn't be taught lies just because their parents believe them.
Teaching a kid the world was created 6000 years ago would be educational malpractice even if the majority of parents in a district wanted them taught such foolishness.
@mott-the-hoople saidWe're talking about fictional children's books, and my post was about conservative hypocrisy regarding that matter. Conservatives thought it was insane to pull children's books (failing to mention the racist caricatures) and less than a year later, conservatives defend book burning.
do you feel parents do not have a right to determine what their children are taught?

Polish priest regrets burning "Harry Potter" and other books
When even Fox News, (who also laughed at pulling Dr. Seuss books) has a piece showing conservatives are on the wrong side of history, you know you f'd up.
@mott-the-hoople saidSo your idea of freedom of speech is that right wingers have it but leftists don't?
I dont see any irony at all…I feel everyone is free to burn a book. It is not my place to tell them they cant. It is freedom of speech. But libs are against freedom of speech arent they?
Burning a book is freedom of speech; saying someone is a loon for burning books is a violation of their freedom of speech?
I realize you're not one for self-introspection but you really should try to understand why that position is utterly self-contradictory.

dont just claim it, prove it!
but at any rate, its THEIR children, none of your business

@no1marauder saidmy saying you are wrong is freedom of speech. These people have a RIGHT to do this. You have the freedom to say they are wrong, I have the freedom to say you are wrong…that is where we are at, please explain what is contradictory?
