(3) If you agree so far I will check with the secretary of my charity whether she would be prepared to answer a letter from you (Redmike) asking if a donor named 'Philidor' has donated £150 to that charity since 24th October 2006.
What Redmike doesnt know is that Phildor actually is Bob Geldof

OK - can you confirm that you will accept the word of an established user of this site of my employment status.

I'm not sure what other conditions you mean. My issue is that you'll donate to some kind of loony right-wing charity, or a charity you'd already be donating to. I wouldn't expect you to donate to what you'd consider a left-wing charity though. I'd respect your confidentiality if you'd rather pm me the charity details.

I'd be surprised if a charity would enter into such correspondence, but feel free to ask. Did you see my later suggestion of getting a 3rd party from this site to verify it?

Why not use some of that money to turn Philidor into a subscriber of RHP 😉

(1) Established user? Yes if you will give your word that he/she is bona fide.

(2) I do not donate to loony right or left-wing political charities. I'll pm you my choice if you will accept my word of honour that I have donated the agreed sum after 24th October if in fact that charity declines to enter into correspondence abou such matters.

(3) All the above is subject to us both posting an an acknowledgement that honour has been satisfied in conclusion . OK?

Edit. I do not have contact with an other user of this site who could provide verification of my statements, so that option is ruled out for me.

OK - I'll contact the user I have in mind, and hopefully they'll agree to post here. In terms of their credentials, they're a long established subscriber to this site, who from 'real life' , would be in a position to confirm my employment status.

If you let me know the charity, I'll accept your word that you've made a donation.

I'm not sure what you mean 'honour has been satisfied', but I'd accept that, once I've got someone to confirm my employment status and you confirm you've made the appropriate donation, then we've met the stipulation of your original challenge.

OK. Agreed.
In fact I'll go further. If you will accept my word in the event I cannot get confirmation of my donation I'll accept yours without bothering a 3rd party.
Best communicate via PMs from now on in this context until we finally post a mutually agreed truce on this site. OK?

If you'd been willing to accept my word for it in the first place, then all this malarkey could have been avoided.

I am in full-time employment, I have been in full-time employment all my adult life, other than a couple of months after university in 1984, and the last time I claimed any sort of benefits was as a student in the early 1980s, when it was the usual practise to claim between years.

I await the details of your donation.

As to a 'mutually agreed truce', I'm not sure what you're getting at here. You set out a specific challenge, the terms of which I think I've now met, and I'm sure you will meet your obligation.
Then it is business as usual, albeit without the incessant references to dropouts, scroungers etc etc.

I have sent you a PM suppying the information you require. Having regard to your assurance it would be interesting to know what your job is (or at least in what sphere); night work I assume since you are posting here at all times of the day.

By 'truce' I meant that if I no longer accused you of scrounging you would no longer accuse me of hypocrisy in having to accept unwanted ted 'free' gifts which amount to PR stunts dreamed up by Blair and Co.

That's very harsh! I suggest you apologise to Philidor for comparing him to such a clown, it could be very hurtful.

I can confirm that I've received details of your donation, and that I consider our deal done. I now understand your reference to a truce, and that's fair enough.

I'm not sure I understand your interest in my job. I don't intend to be more specific than to say I'm an IT worker, with normal office hours.

Yip, but a Commie's understanding of office hours might be different.
