Originally posted by reinfeldI don't see the problem with chips. Saves hassle on passports and ID and stuff. I don't say that as a European, I think most Europeans would be adamantly opposed. Just having to have biometric data on our passports due to US paranoia has really pissed off a lot of us, so you can imagine what a request for a subdermal chip would face. I just don't care if someone knows my every move, I'd prefer if they were open about it though.
...we have a bill or rights which mean something to us...

I'd set fire to a town hall or something.

What can one say?

Asbestos.
Lead.
Global Warming.
Challenged.
Correct.
Gay.
Fag.
What do these words represent? An abstract image or motive force.
Each word paints a picture in the human brain. It becomes associated with the way we view CONCEPTS because we associate an image to each map generated by constant usage.
Asbestos is a wonderful substance that can and does have a million uses. It now almost universally means "danger" with images of people in full body protection suits and breathers. It was chosen by lawyers to mean "money" and with the help of the state and the media, it BECAME a "bad" thing.
Lead (PB) is an element that every kid up until 1980's used to suck in their mouth for flavor enhancement. The US coinage was made of it. Most of the worlds plumbing pipes from 400 BC to 1960 were made of it, carrying water to billions. Now there are special agencies and departments of government dedicated to making sure "workers" wear full body armor whenever they work with "Lead"... an inert metal. How did the image of dead and dying babies come to be associated with the word 'Lead'?
Global Warming is now a cause and a political movement. The Earth is warming and we have been divided into three camps of humans ready to go to war over it. How did this happen?
Challenged is a nice little word. Crippled and Retarded are nice little words too. Whatever happened? Are "challenged" people somehow better than "crippled" people? Or did some very smart people figure out how to manipulate the images in our minds by creating and enforcing "taboo"? If the populace becomes mind-wiped (subject to taboo with accompanying threat of ostracism) then what else can be made to be "taboo" with use of nothing more than "Oprah Winfrey Speaks"?
Why are people so afraid of not being "Correct"? Whatever happened to the universal truth that "Your chances of being correct about anything except what YOU prefer is zero to none." How did we get to be an entire planet that absolutely "knows" that they are correct?
I used to be gay, back when it meant "happy". What happened to that word? And why can i no longer listen to "gay christmas music" or go to a party and have a 'gay old time'? In the space of thirty years?
There is an advertisement hanging in my office for Chesterfield cigarettes that shows a couple of fine english gents enjoying a smoke. The caption is "You could be hit by a bus tomorrow. Go ahead. Have a fag." What ever happened to that good word?
And my biggest gripe of all... The USA is still the same country it has always been. We will not take away others lands. We will fight to bring freedom to people subjugated by an enemy. How did the world come to associate USA to hatred? Was it policy or mind-wipe?
The human animal is a creature that gangs together in groups for safety and applause. It seems to me that until we -- as a species -- grow a spine, we will be subject to "new speak" and the will of "big brother" no end.
A chip under the skin is nothing except a distraction to Europeans. They are losing their civilization to "new speak" more than any other place on earth. Most are too lazy and stupid to even reproduce the next generation. God help them all.

Little things like jumping off cliffs kill you or holding your breath for over 10 minutes leads to more little capitalists being born.
And larger things like lead is poisonous and asbestos gives you cancer.
Obviously jumping off cliffs and be exciting, obviously holding your breath for 10 minutes increases the joy of an orgasm, obviously lead has many uses and equally obviously, so does asbestos.
But we've progressed. However good they are, they're not quite as good as we first expected.

The new american usage of the word fag makes asking if you can "bum a fag" (have a cigarette) hilarious.
I have similar concerns about words like "progress" being abused to mean "we can do what we like, so there"

So if lead is so poisonous are we not all dead? There are still several parts per billion of it in ALL the air on earth. Lead "accumulates" in some human tissues to the point where it CAN cause damage. If it were "Poison" we would all have been dead long ago.
Every chimney constructed for a thousand years was lined with Asbestos. And saved hundreds of thousands of lives from fire. Isn't it amazing that when new technologies came along to replace asbestos, it became dangerous... but not until then? btw... I don't think that we need to use asbestos anymore, now that we have better products. The point is... "How did the word Asbestos come to represent the worst thing that can happen to a property and it's occupants?", when it is far, far from the truth.
obviously holding your breath for 10 minutes increases the joy of an orgasm,
Ummmm.... thanks for sharing that. I now know which kind of oxygen starvation lead to your crippled and retarded brain. Oh well. Commies have to have a cause. Oxygen dead brains is as good as any.
