That's an interesting point; I'm sure an independent, far right Texas would take brutal measures at the border which might trigger a war with Mexico.

I'd miss Texas though; went on vacation there right before COVID and the people there were very pleasant.
With al those "foreigners " emigrating to Texas it seems Texas is becoming gradually less friendly .
On another note , Texas is a Native American word which means friendly .

But if they’re booted out, the people will be the same, it’ll just be like going abroad though.

He will probably say next he is from Antarctica.

I mentioned my interest and professional work as a guitarist and he said he was born and raised in Moscow and I had mentioned Doo Wop music and gave a couple of youtubes showing that but he comes back with I was born and raised in Italy and I am offended by your u ...[text shortened]... aining that was a musical genre but he just wigged out, next he was from South Africa, so 100% jerk.

Without the threat of the US Marines landing in Vera Cruz and taking the capitol (From the Halls of Montezuma… ) Mexico would steamroll over those States. They’d take a page from Russia’s playbook and say they were defending ethnic Mexicans and it was theirs historically etc
Mexico's not going to steamroll over jack chit, the Mexican Army is laughable.

I'm sure he did not know that nor did I but I am also sure nobody in the Doo Wop music field knew that either. Thanks for the info! That dude is just another BS artist.

I don’t think that is true. “Wop” is based on the Spanish word “guapo” (handsome) which dates back to the 15th-18th centuries when Imperial Spain ruled Sicily and southern Italy. Italy has long been known for fashionable attire so the ruling Aragonese called them “Guapos” which sounds like “Wop”.

Italian organized crime also dates back to this period as an extension of the Spanish crime tradition called “La Garduña”. France was Spain’s rival for control of these lands and the Mafia started as a Spanish inspired resistance to the French.

They are in daily combat with cartels and are no joke. Another Alamo battle would mirror the first - with every Anglo-Texian put to the sword after they were defeated in battle.

The Mexican army has taken control of the hometown of a powerful drug lord in the state of Michoacán, west Mexico.
Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes - known as "El Mencho" - was born in the town of Naranjo de Chila, Aguililla, and is wanted in Mexico and the US.
Landmines planted by rival gangs in the surrounding area killed one person and injured others in recent weeks.
Army vehicles and landmine detection teams are patrolling the town.

"El Mencho", who leads the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), has been on the run for years.
His gang is one of the most powerful drug cartels in Mexico is believed to be behind attacks on Mexican security forces, such as a 2015 ambush in Jalisco which left 15 officers dead and the attempted assassination of Mexico City's police chief in 2020.
The cartel has spread from its original power base in the state of Jalisco to have an almost nationwide presence.

Excellent series illustrating the Spanish-French conflicts in Italy is The Borgias. Here are some scenes demonstrating France’s complete military dominance over Italy at the time:

Poor Texas would have to deal with the Mexican Army which they cannot defend themselves against

We could trade it for Baja maybe
Hm, yeah -- a simple real-estate deal might be easier to accomplish.
