@divegeester saidIf everyone stayed home for 2 months, the virus would have died out. It wouldn’t resurge (not from human to human contact anyway).
And then another “wave” of infections by the following spring.
Whichever way one looks at it, the virus has to work it’s way through the population at some point.

@shavixmir saidif everyone stayed home they would starve to death within two months. you may want to rethink that gaff.

The post that was quoted here has been removedYeah I used it because I didn’t think it was a particular bad thing to say but since you alerted the post and it was too late to edit it, I decided to remove and repost it and the content was what I wanted to say to you.
I think me calling you a poisonous twisted vicious racist ashole is much worse.
Alert that.
@shavixmir saidHow can you possibly know that?

It came from somewhere and that somewhere still exists.
@shavixmir saidAnd if your aunt had balls she'd be your uncle. 🙄

@shavixmir saidBut that's exactly what 'did' happen. And the virus was still waiting for us when we came out of lockdown.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidBut the health services were not overwhelmed and their not overwhelmed now. If it looks like they might be we will have to lockdown again.

If we cannot defeat this virus we will have to settle for managing it.
@kevcvs57 saidThat is true, Kev, and it's the only reason why we should not do herd immunity. Not in the US, anyway.

Let the people get sick in a controlled fashion. Otherwise the hospitals can't hack it.
"Herd immunity". How do them Swedes get away with this....? 🤔
Must be the blond hair. 😆
@earl-of-trumps saidHerd immunity only benefits the strong members of the herd.

I agree with Kev and yourself that we need to manage the virus the best we can in a controlled manner. Lockdown for 2 months would only work if we:
1. Were Borg
2. Were put into suspended animation
3. Developed the ability to collectively hibernate
@earl-of-trumps saidWe are known to be naïve. Sometimes we can go safe through situations by simply not seeing the danger.

@torunn saidEverybody questioned the Swedish approach early on.

Now they have the lowest infection rate in Scandinavia. Interesting!
Fighting this COVID war is a long long battle. The Swedish approach may one day be appreciated as a valid way to fight it.
@earl-of-trumps saidMaybe, in the end - if there is an end to this virus - the result may be about the same for all, even if we do it different ways. So far we seem to manage fairly well despite unfortunate high death rates at first, but who can tell...?
