@averagejoe1 saidProbably whatever the to be married couple want to be referred as. Wouldn’t you think?
Please be the one to respond to my example, “ I now pronounce you, spouse and spouse’. What would the priest say in the new world that y’all are creating’
?
So, if Jim-Bob and Daisy-Mae want to be married as husband and wife, that’s what the priest will say.
@shavixmir saidOf course you are quite correct. Some even take reference to God out of marriage vows, etc. I think atheists insert 'universe' or some such in their proceeding.

But, you again miss the point of the OP. Libs try to change everything in our lives this year, right now, after 250 years. This was an example, but alas, over your head. Another proof-point that you are a liberal.

@averagejoe1 saidMarriage is an antiquated tradition at best.

I couldn’t care less.
Your fear of change is unsettling. How do you ever leave the clinic in the morning?

@shavixmir saidOur resident liberal, Shav, says marriage is outdated, and he says we should have let the Jap war rage on. Why Shav, you and I would not be here, our daddies would be in an unmarked ground in Shikoku or some other island. Along with a few hundred thousand other daddies. Give it up Shav. Go carry a sign somewhere, I know you have the day off!!!!!!

@averagejoe1 saidShav, try reading this, look at the numbers of Allies that would have been lost. Even the paltry number of Netherlanders. This part of a WSJ opinion.

He (Oppenheimer, Shav) overrode his qualms and doubts to develop the most lethal weapon in human history, arguing to himself and others that only a weapon so uniquely devastating would convince Japan it had lost the war, thus forestalling an invasion that would yield, by one estimation of the time, one million casualties, of which, obviously, not all would be American. The Japanese would have fought hand-to-hand on the streets and beaches. They would only surrender if Emperor Hirohito told them to do so.

@AverageJoe1
The idea of marriage is relatively new. In ancient Rome, it was transactional, just for benefit of family and social status, a woman marries a senator for his power so SHE gets power. Very little lets get married because we LOVE each other.
Invoking a fake god is just propagating the fact none of these so-called gods are real, all man made religions, like a god would go KILL those dam heathens. Sure.

@sonhouse saidMarriage in many cultures was and still is a power alliance between families. For love, one takes a lover.

@moonbus saidNo, bad grammar. When priest says ‘you’, which one is he talking to? Or do you imply the preacher says I now pronounce you and you (to be) you and you. Again, that really does not make any sense. They already know that they are ‘you’. It does not denote the coupling of two lives.
“I now pronounce you married.”
Maybe if you could work ‘y’all’ in, it could be “I now pronounce y’all you and you” or spouse and spouse but now we are back where we started, no better off.

@AverageJoe1
Query: is woke really thinking about saying, I now pronounce you spouse and spouse. Let’s let Sonhouse be the final determinant of this matter, standing by.

@moonbus saidThat may be true, I will get someone to Google all of the various cultural dealings such as this, but what about Woke changing marriage vows in the USA? Or Romania?

Only the Woke among us need apply. Marauder?
