Have you ever looked into Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotopic_sensitivity_syndrome
I know several people who have been greatly helped by tinted lenses, so I don't think this is a fluke.
But there is one fairly unique symptom I get: I often have an inability of making out what the words are being sung in a song when it same time. I guess subtitles wouldn't work well either for someone who is dyslectic, though.
. .…
Interesting -I do appear to have some of the symptoms but, if I have got this, I think I must have it in a very mild form.
…I am not sure how unique that is. I have big trouble making out the words of a song, too, and that despite being a musician with above average auditory skills (in music) and hearing ability..…
Interesting -this is the first time I heard of anyone else saying they have this problem.
I wonder how common it is?
….I also prefer to have subtitles when watching films (even when they are in my native tongue) because I often find it hard to understand what people say with all the other auditory and visual input going on at the same time.
..…
I sometimes do this myself.

Not necessarily. It depends which one the dyslexic finds hardest; making out what is verbally said or making out the written word. Difficulty in perceiving of what is verbally said is a common symptom of dyslexia. I sometimes can make out the written word more easily despite the dyslexia but I still have difficulty because my reading is rather slow and I strongly tend to misread things if I try and rush it and the subtitles often change before I have read a whole sentence.
