Marriage is a civil ceremony (or WAS) and it is most times purveyed by the clergy, not the federal government (US)
Societal norms are determined by how a society behaves of its own volition, not because of LAWS.
For example, there is no law saying that girls have long hair and boys have short, it is simply how people choose to do it.
Same here. If people wish to recognize gay marriage, they can - or not. It should never be government FORCING us to.
But these are draconian socialist times we enter.
