I was quite interested in the link to "British Cuisine" because it ges a bad press which is really a hang over from the fifties and sixties. Nowadays it's completely different in the UK. It's rather adventurous and multi-cultural.
Having said that though, Porters restaurant in Covent Garden is a traditional English Restaurant (where you'll get your toad in the hole) . After suffering much laughter and derision I managed to persuade some friends, a Finn, a German and an Italian to go there one evening. They all LOVED the food even though it was British and they had looked at is as though it had just insulted their mothers. Try it if you're ever in London (and it's still there)
