The Lincoln Douglas debates of course were taught when I was in school, this is actual history.
Abraham Lincoln, From the 4th Lincoln-Douglas debate:
I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races, [applause]—that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people.
there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.
So you're in favor of teaching this, right? Because, as you just said, this is actual history.

I agree.
@earl-of-trumps saidHow the hell can Marxist theories and principles teach people to hate people because of skin colour?
@wildgrass - "The bill, written by Republicans in Virginia, is banning the teaching of "divisive concepts". It describes a non-existent presidential debate between Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass."
Firstly, democrats *are* teaching divisive concepts, as is consistent with the democrat philosophy of today.
CRT teaches black kids to hate white kids and ...[text shortened]... ? freedom had to came at the high price, but it had to come.
CRT sucks, that is the bottom line.,
That's not a thing in Marxism.

For earl everything bad is Marxist and Marxism is everything bad.
You have to ignore the fact that racism is actually and integral aspect of capitalism used to keep the working class from looking up and seeing who the real enemy is, spoiler alert: it ain’t poor black folks.

@earl-of-trumps saidThe Lincoln-Douglas debate, not the Lincoln-Douglass debate. Those are different historical figures, and the latter debate never took place. Moreover, many divisive concepts were discussed during the Lincoln-Douglas debate. That's why the bill seems so inherently contradictory.

@vivify saidGood point, here. This Lincoln quote from the debate actually supports the main premise of CRT that race is built into the fabric of our social construct. Another big contradiction in these bills that's going to add to the confusion.

@wildgrass saidSame old GOP story,/
Well, who saw this coming?
Now that the Grand Old Party has fomented hatred of teachers stemming from teaching the philosophical construct of structural racism taught in elementary school, we see why.
Republicans want to rewrite history books. The party that insists they are still limited government libertarian-leaning folk want institutionalized education. Not only d ...[text shortened]... ncepts? Morality itself is divisive. We're supposed to think these are conservative ideas?
Loony.
