Our toilets can only have a 1.6 gal capacity... by law. We've been using ethanol gas blends for 25 years.... If i build a house and must cut down a 15in. dia. tree i'm required to replace that tree with 5- five in. dia. trees.....etc. etc. etc.
Ratehr than save money and hassle now? Quick fixes are not a way out. Just switch your bulbs, recycle as long as it's made easy for you and stick a lagging jacket on your water heater. You don't need to eat grenola and tofu to do your bit, just common sense money saving things can help.

You've not read one post I've ever put up here... have you?
I know you will never be swayed and neither will I. Mainly, I have no desire to regurgitate it all over again. 😕 However, when the subject is raised I will add a bit of weight to the non-frantic side. 🙂

So much for fair and open debate about climate change:

Seems most people don't believe it's true but there are a few out there who do think it is true and want to debate this issue.
I wonder if just because some people don't believe the truth, it doesn't mean there is a debate. Maybe it just means some people are wrong.

The vast majority of the problem is from industry dumping pollutants into the atmosphere and emissions from millions of vehicles. Coal electricty generating stations are the main issue for homeowners because this is likely where you get your electricity from if you are in the US.
The rest of the stuff is small potatoes.

Anyway, putting that to one side, as I understand it, even the naysayers accept that the ave. global temperatures have risen over the last few decades. There is universal empirical proof of global warming as a fact.
The questions that should be asked are what causes it? would it occur regardless of increase in carbon emissions? & can & should anything be done to slow it down?

You keep talking about stick, I don't want laws to be passed forcing people to do things, the people should know why it's a good thing to do and do it themselves.
That you need laws to tell you that lagging jackets are a cheap and effective as well as simple way of saving money, let alone energy, is a little worrying.

Originally posted by SquelchbelchThere is global warming -- it's occurred about 1,600 times that we know of and will continue occurring until the end of time because it's cyclical, not man made.
