I have noticed that a lot of people justify piracy by pointing out that they don't support those record companies, but later on admit that they do buy music they like (from the same record companies). Has anyone considered keeping just the pirated copy, and sending a donation directly to the band?
Edit -- can't think when last I bought something from Sony or whatever new.

I like the idea about paying the artist directly, but then they may as well go the whole hog and distribute their own material.
