Chicago...black mayor black police chief black city council etc etc and the mayor isn't happy so now she'll only talk to black reporters.
Sure sounds like systemic racism to me.
Well that should tell you how many black people live in Chicago and now all you have to do is explain the disparity in the press corp numbers.
She is not impacting the career prospects of any white reporters, she has made a one off stance regarding what should be a celebratory 2 yr anniversary of a black woman entering.the mayors office to highlight the lack of diversity in the cities journalistic media outlets.

She is denying opportunities to white reporters because of their race. That is simply intolerable and your view that it is no big deal is simply offensive.

You just admitted that the Mayor of Chicago implemented a racist policy but that you can pretend to ignore it because you want to highlight other racism. If you want to eliminate racism, don't find new opposite forms. People will justifiably resent her racist policies and will feel that one of the risks of having minorities is power is that they will intentionally implement anti-majority policies.
It’s not a policy it’s a one off stunt to highlight the racist recruitment policies of the cities media corps.
If it was an ongoing policy then it would be an issue with legal consequences I would imagine.
If she was a racist she would do what racist employers all over the US and UK do and not announce any such ‘policy’ but just implement a hidden racist recruitment policy with a nod and a wink to other racist black folks.

No she is ring fencing one interview for people of colour. What opportunities is she denying white reporters? The opportunity to interview the Chicago mayor every two years? Wow whatever shall those white reporters do?

That’s weird because people of colour only make up 23% of newsroom staff whilst being 40% of US population.
Are you sure your googling and not newsmaxing.

It's NEVER acceptable to deny someone any opportunity because of their race.
Is the Chicago's mayor's new defense that "it is no big deal to be racist because I only do it once in a while" available to everyone? For example can we excuse the actions of cops who implement policies once in a while in a racist manner or an employer who once in a while excludes minorities from the opportunity to do a small job? Or is the defense available just to black policy makers who feel that highlighting issues that are important to them excuse their obligation to treat people fairly?

Anyone pretending not to understand the point she is making just does not want to understand the point she’s making and wants it to be some racial issue in and of itself rather than the reality of it highlighting the actual racial issue.
That’s their choice, but it’s activism not racism or hypocrisy.
Yeah. The KKK is activism as well then.
Pull the other one.

Bravo definitely One of your more ridiculous and sickening analogies. I don’t see any white reporters hanging from trees though, how odd.

How refreshing would it be if all the racist white employers in the US were actually honest about their own employment policies?how much safer would it be if all the white racist cops fessed up to their racism?
You may be onto something but your a long way from turning this example of anti racist activism into an actual example of actual racism.

I think racism should be illegal. You support racism if it furthers a policy you support. You should just either acknowledge that the Mayor of Chicago and you are wrong or acknowledge that you aren't bothered by racism.

Every time I see an article like this I reverse the colors and see how it sounds.
If it sounds racist, it is.

You get a grip it’s you that’s on a slippery slope here. When your drawing an analogy between a black US mayor and the KKK you’ve probably run out of steam.
This non story is being used by some of the worst anti black racists on this cite to push the idea of equivalence between all the horrors of anti black racism in America and a black mayor using her biannual interview to highlight an ongoing lack of diversity in the industry that tells people what is actually happening.

Dude.
Did she say she would talk only to colour A? And not to B?
Based solely upon colour.

Yes. Yes she did.
End of.
