Such great news. But of course we NEED our AK47s and 50 mm machine guns to hunt those dangerous rabbits and deer.....

Funny how that works. So now it Texass they passed a law saying anyone can wear any gun with no background checks, going back a hundred and fifty years, gun fight at the OK corral. What a bunch of IDIOTS. I can't WAIT for the gun death stats coming out of that abortion of a law.

The stats will rise, or fall--depending on the source you use to research.

O.K. Corral is in Tombstone, Arizona.
The Earps and Doc Holliday had gone to confront
men to disarm them.
These groups had run ins before, but that's another story.
As I have pointed out, one other time on FORUM, that
Earp, Hickok and other famous lawmen of
'The Old West,' prohibited sidearms
from being carried within city limits.
Even a cowpoke passing through was required
to check in his firearms at The Sheriff/Marshall's office.
..........Seems a crazy law to me, and law enforcement as well

Virtually ALL firearms are
purchased outside city areas.
Death rate by firearms are similar
in urban and rural areas.
Regardless, the fact remains,
MORE KIDS DIE FROM FIREARMS THAN AUTO ACCIDENT

Somehow the goalposts of this conversation just underwent a seismic shift. If I were to attempt to engage in this new conversation, how far would the goal posts shift after I've spent my time on the new goal? I would like to use my time more wisely. I could make a quick emotional quip in almost any discussion. But I'd rather carefully dissect a single issue than to rapidly exchange (cut and pasted) the same tired talking points on a constantly changing set of topics.

It was just pointed out that more kids die from gunshot wounds than car crashes. It was as if once gunshot wound deaths exceed the arbitrary benchmark established by the car-crash numbers, we're compelled to take action because of that very threshold itself. You seem to be on board with that idea. Is that true, or do you have a totally different bench-mark that was never put forth before in this thread?

I would also note that more kids die from gunshot wounds than shark bites. More kids die from gunshot wounds than lightning strikes. More adults die from gunshot wounds than drowning. Fewer adults die from gunshot wounds than drug overdoses. Fewer adults die from gunshot wounds than poisoning. All of these can be used to form arbitrary bench-marks. Which of these are we required to use to decide gun policy?

Also, if we use the benchmark of "isn't one too many", are you prepared to apply that same benchmark to other freedoms that could be taken away?
