@techsouth saidTouchy, touchy, who ya' mad at?
Somehow the goalposts of this conversation just underwent a seismic shift. If I were to attempt to engage in this new conversation, how far would the goal posts shift after I've spent my time on the new goal? I would like to use my time more wisely. I could make a quick emotional quip in almost any discussion. But I'd rather carefully dissect a single issue than to rapi ...[text shortened]... too many", are you prepared to apply that same benchmark to other freedoms that could be taken away?
YOU NOTICE THE TITLE of THE THREAD?
A simple fact--------------New Study
More kids killed by firearms than automobiles.
What is your point with sharkbites, lightning, etc?
I don't like wearing seatbelts, if that's where you're going with this.

If it is your contention that because a single kid would die because people are free to own AK47s and/or 50mms, I am asking you what is the significance of the benchmark with regards to car wreck deaths. If you believe what you say, the fact that more kids die from gun shot wounds that car wrecks ought to be totally irrelevant to you. I realize that is the topic of the thread, but I wonder why you're joining the discussion at all if your position is that a single death is too many.
If you believe what you say, then we ought to agree that the original post was just a senseless benchmark.
My point about shark bites is that all these things can be arbitrary benchmarks. We can all produce an unlimited number of useless and arbitrary benchmarks. I hadn't even thought of seat belts.

gun related deaths have outnumbered automobile
related deaths among children....
Probably just a commentary on too many
guns in untrained hands and better protection
for children as car passengers........
I didn't make this up, nor conduct the study.
Simple statistic...you seem to be taking this new stat personally.
@chessataxia saidDunno,' seems them white folks done
I'd like to see the racial stats of the gunshot deaths.
Obviously it's blacks killing blacks but I would still like to see the numbers.
plenty school shootings to me.
According to this, many more

I'm not new to Internet debate and learned long ago that I can't tackle every tangent that gets entered into a discussion. In order to focus better, I would prefer to hone in one a single point, preferably something that involves more reflection than would be required to cut and paste the same old tired arguments over and over.
The fact that I'm avoiding tangents and resisting the inclination to post any old emotional quip that feels clever is probably confusing you.
In this case, the point at which I'm involved is something that I think you and I agree on. Somehow you keep responding without noticing that we agree on this point.
The point is as follows:
The fact that child gun deaths now outnumber car deaths is an irrelevant benchmark or milestone
Simple agree or disagree?
If we can get past this point, then I may or may not choose to engage in further discussion on other related topics.
Obviously the extent we agree on this point comes from different reason. You seemingly believe the milestone is irrelevant because the only meaningful milestone is 1 (as in 1 death per year). Have I mischaracterized your argument?
You don't need to point out that this is the topic of the post. I realize that and think my post is on point. You don't need to point out that the study is true, I'm willing to stipulate that. You don't need to mention that you didn't make this up. I realize that too. And you keep trying to read an emotion into my words. I will just say that none of us are as good as we think we are at determining emotional states of strangers on the Internet. You can engage in that again if you want to, but it doesn't change things at all, and I have not chosen to enter in this discussion on this voluntary forum to prove or disprove my emotional state to strangers. (If that sounds "touchy" or angry, sorry. I'm just trying to preempt replies that are tangential).

@chessataxia saidThis is about kids shot vs auto accident
Yep.
Almost 800 homicides in Chicago last year.
Take all of the school shooting victims and add them up. Does it come close to the amount of black on black homicide rate?
No. No it doesn't.
