Solar and wind power are now 10 - 20% cheaper to produce than oil Spanky. Stop living in the 1950's. 🙄

@Earl-of-Trumps
I think they will end up making deals with the Saudi's to increase their production.
It is what I would do anyway. But the Saudi's are sucking up to Russia so it won't be a shoe in.
But I think you also saw Biden releasing 60 million barrels of oil reserves, about 10 or 12 days of fuel.
Gas is over 4 bucks a gallon right now and clearly running up to 5. The only thing that 60 million barrels will do is slow down the increase in price, we can forget seeing 3 dollar gas again. Thank you Pukin Putin.

That our government apparently disagrees with your warped view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict does not make it inconsistent to impose sanctions on Russia.

I'm not in favor of banning disabled Russian athletes from international competition. I am in favor of economic sanctions that reduce the worldwide influence of the Russian despot and cripple its ability to use its economic power to try to force the world to accept its attacks on Ukraine.
I think it’s your view which is warped on the Israeli-Palestinian war and the Israeli apartheid regime.

I think there may be a chance that the pain being felt in Russia could eventually topple Putin.

It’s a pity the West is so heavily invested with the oligarchs, who have a mutual support relationship with Putin, otherwise it may have happened sooner.

If Putin does fall (here’s bloody hoping!) it’s only going to create a power vaccum for the next ego-maniacal know-it-all.
And that is the West’s fault.
We have a nasty tendency of supporting very nasty people to get what we want on the cheap.

You gotta' point.........
Tianamin Square didn't......
But that was an internal matter, as unfortunately is Hong Kong. Ukraine isn't, and neither is Taiwan.

Well, Zionist sympathizers can play Winston Smith all they want, but facts are facts.

Economic sanctions might make the West feel better (though the economic consequences of the war are flowing both ways) and the average Russian worse, but they are not realistically going to result in the end of the war and/or the overthrow of Putin. Rather than relying on such pipe dreams, the Ukrainians, unfortunately, need to modify their negotiating stance and see what the Russians will accept and whether that is bearable.

utterly stupid to think they should just give in to putin.

The way to stop this was forgone when biden the installed puppet refused to stand up to putin. And he is still supporting putin to the tune of $70 million per day when he could easily use OUR OIL.

So no economic sanctions? The Ukranians just have to deal with it. Maybe offer Putin the eastern half of the country as a reward for his great chivalry in conducting his defensive military exercise.

Fine.

So let's say he turns to Georgia or Latvia next. Still no sanctions? Maybe Latvia can also agree to allow a few eastern regions to become "independent" (i.e., Russian controlled) and maybe make Riga a shared city, like cold war Berlin? After all, they have to be realistic, unfortunately of course.

Exactly at what point will you be in favor of trying to stop Putin?

Yes, I'm aware of that.

But thanks for the update.

Russia put forth a proposal in December which should have been a starting point for negotiations. The West and the Ukrainians basically laughed at it.

Realistically, the West is going to have to accommodate Russian security concerns. If they keep playing the game you want the result could quite possibly be nuclear war.
