@earl-of-trumps saidYou are getting the issue confused. Stick with the facts. I posted a 1947 census figures:
PLEASE, Rajk
Do you not know that England *alone* sent 700,000 new Jews into Palestine, post world war II??
your link is wrong.
Jews 630,000
Palestinians 1,324,000.
Writing accurately and using the correct dates is important otherwise the information is garbage. 700,000 Jews came in from all over the world [between 1948 and 1951] and this only started in 1948 AFTER the setting up of the Jewish state, and this took place AFTER the British exited Palestine, THEN AND ONLY THEN, was Jewish immigration encouraged.
We are dealing with the War of Independence which began AFTER the UN Resolution of 1947 was rejected by the Arabs.
1947 - FOCUS..
@kevcvs57 saiddoesnt work like that
Then neither is Israel do you often see yourself as the arbiter of nationhood.
The Palestinians have at least as much right to declare themselves an independent state as the Jews did post WWII.

@earl-of-trumps saidGreat .. Im no expert on this topic either. Im learning as we go along. Lets proceed along, pulling out the facts, and see where we go with it. I will keep saying that nothing is wrong with opinions, just understand that facts are more important.

We are still trying to find out the number of soldiers / helpers etc in both armies.
@kmax87 saidFrom my view it is no small secret that the Jordanians did not like the Palestinians. The Egyptians did and still do.
This is a point made by many over the past decades. Why have the powerful Arab states kicked the Palestinians to the curb?

@earl-of-trumps saidWhy have the oil-rich Saudi's stood by doing nothing?

@kmax87 saidDon't know. I suspect it is to remain friends with the US, which the ties are obvious.

Remember 911 when a plane of saudis were the only ones to get into the air to fly home during the lockdown?
The royal family had very close ties to Bush (the senior)

@rajk999 saidPersonally I blame the British for the shamozzle. The sick man of Europe, the Ottoman Empire was ripe for the carve up and the Sykes-Picot agreement, followed by the Balfour declaration, put the land of Palestine back in play. After almost 2 millennia of being hounded and persecuted in almost every location they landed, what would you have done if you were a Jew and you saw all these cards start to fall in your favor? The real politic between Britain and the Arab world to secure passage through the Suez and the development of Arabian and Persian Oil fields created a potential that a growing Zionist movement exploited. In the aftermath of WW2 and the camps at Auschwitz and Belsen, that potential became a concerted push and the Jews finally had their home again. The cry Never Again is not just vigilance over the holocaust, but also an oath to never again be separated from their land. And you can argue the contours and the boundaries of that land all you want, but the Jews were able to exploit a perfect storm of conditions to establish their own State again. Whether they can hold on to it due to the heavy handed and disproportionate responses meted out to the Palestinians and other non-Jews in their living space remains to be seen, but to claim that non-Jewish actors in the region have not been problematic is to ignore the tit for tat rounds of attack and reprisal that has been their recent history.
Some of these Arab countries believe that the children of Jacob were given the Land of Palestine by God. They therefore steer clear of that conflict.
