No worries about the job - I got taken on by my old company, four days after getting back and with a pay rise. And in the meantime, I visited US, Panama, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Cuba, Spain, UK, Amsterdam, Budapest, Lebanon,Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Kenya, India, and Malaysia. You travel a bit yourself?
No. I went to wyoming for a couple of funerals this fall, but nowhere else to speak of since last we spoke.

Concerning "Intelligent Design", I have a few thoughts. The main one is the amplification of the very earliest discussion of "singularity" put forth in science fiction as an examination of John von Neuman's original use of "Singularity", or that point in techno growth when advancement exceeds the ability to understand nevermind control change. This was ...[text shortened]... eventuality and much less worrying about God and Science... whatever they are.

Long time no see, you seem more lucid than when last you were around. Good xmas?
Yes a most excellent celebration of the life and death of Jesus Christ was had by me and all my atheist family. I really do like the Christmas season. New Year celebration leaves a whole lot to be desired. Kind of a big deal for no reason, if you know what I mean.
How are you doing sir?

We missed your scurrolous voice around here, if thats indeed a word,
sounds impressive anyway!

Nowhere really. Just decided to take some time off to get a new perspective on the world. I was locked into a "habit" and that makes me nuts.
Freud sucks and Pavlov rules. So with that in mind, whenever one becomes to harshly "conditioned", one must break the conditioning. I was in a rut. So I chose to break it.
I knocked a hole in the back of the ...[text shortened]... arage and drive though.
Ya know. This really sounds pathetic once I see it in writing.

A very famous philosopher who had his genesis here at RHP once said:

Both are derived from the laws of God.
Do the laws of man supercede the laws of God or the laws of the jungle?
No. Yes, if so inclinced and/or able. See my much-earlier, ill-received thread, "Industry."
Does the law of the jungle cease to exist in the presence of the laws of man or the laws of God?
Yes, see above.
Originally posted by FreakyKBHThe law of the jungle is not derive of god. God is an invention of man. The godly man standing in the jungle if not armed will be eaten by the tiger. The law of the jungle is that only the strong survive. This has nothing to do with god and the supposition that "since god create the jungle then god created the law of the jungle" is just that, a supposition. If you believe in god you will still be eaten by the tiger as the tiger does not believe in your god.

Simply put, I assume that God,Earth,Man,Jungle and Law are all things that start out simple and become complex before dying and ceasing to "exist". Whatever that word means. I'm still worrying about it a lot.
The implication is that as unifying forces, 'changes' in how we apprehend reality are not a very strong modifier. As a consequence, what we call "civilization" is in most respects a very slow and tortured process, as likely to die from boredom as to succeed from exertion.

How are you doin'?
It is the 'form' that I had to do away with, so I hope it doesn't return. Got stuck in a bad habit and being the "almost STAN" that I am, I had to get away from it for a while. So... The easiest route to breaking a bad habit is to stop doing it. So I did.
I am a simple soul with an even simpler mind. "Dr. It hurts when I do this."... "So stop doing it already!"

Said godly man is standing in the center of a clover-leaf configuration of ten-foot pits, the bottom of each garrisoned with four-foot spikes. Tiger = dead. Man = full, warm, smug.

All laws of nature, of the universe find their origins in the faithfulness of God. All laws of man are merely echoes of His establishment policies. Incidentally, the tiger, et al., deeply believe in God.

folding (Inplane Photonics) The VC's pulled the money plug
and just about everyone was let go. They are doing the last R&D
deliveries but had some VIP's visit and are asking for
them (the ones left, about 4 cores dudes) to make bids on new work.
Don't know how they can make bids on stuff with no people to do the
work. Not a good scene. I am way too old to get another job at a
regular company so must look at consultancy but I have practically
no customer base ATT. Am thinking seriously of the Thermal
Imaging business, a device that takes images that analyze thermal
gradients in buildings, machinery, people and the like. The only
problem is the equipment costs over 10,000 bucks which I theoretically
have in my so-called rollover account, if I can get my hands on it.
A company who managed the 401K stuff for Inplane did so poorly,
we always lost money on it and only one quarter did I make anything
on it besides my own contributions. Then last september, the company
dropped the fund and these people screwed around with it, sucking
all the last minute interest the could and now its January and I have
yet to see one cent. I think its Lawyer time, the crooks. Had a lot of
family over for Christmas and New Years, I used to watch the stupid
ball fall but this year we watched a movie instead, the Kingdom
of Heaven, about the crusades. It seemed more factual than the
usual version. So we missed it. Then some idiot across the street
starts firing off bottle rockets and whizzers at 3 AM, woke everyone
up. Don't know why he didn't do that at midnight!
So the last grandkid left tonight and we are back to the usual
assortment of teenagers, down to two 17 year olds now and their
onterage of girlfriends, we have to keep telling them not to call at
midnight anymore but they keep at it!
I started a music competition with Starmann, we start voting on
jan 9. Have submitted a few compositions, my guitar pieces and
my wife's songs, daughter in law's songs, my sons electronica stuff.
Take a listen when you get a chance. Its not like 2,000 people
beating drums but some of it is nice! Well see you around.
