Now, any guess who wants $200 million per person in reparations...? Come on, you can do it.
I'm sure you would prefer the answer to be expressed differently. After all, slavery in the US was a racist institution through and through.
@soothfast saidMy Irish forebears caught hell in their day. Tell us that the government owes my cousins all over Ireland some big-time money. You are showing yourself as a loser, Sooth. Get a grip.

Do you know, or maybe your didn't, that at least 3 generations have passed since the passage of civil rights? Our society today is WAY past slaves, and maybe the money that these losers are trying to get could be better used by making better schools, and neighborhoods??....for their kids??
Say, yeah, Av Joe, you have a point . I know I do, you don't have to say it.
Dont forget my questoin about Ireland reparations ?? Or can you tell us a difference? And why don't we ferret out other societies where today's citizens need to stop their normal funding and give money to descendants of a problematic time. You libs are not very funny sometimes. Like now.
But sometimes, good for a laugh. My #1 was Shav saying that everyone has a right to housing . I called him on that foolish statement, but he slithered off! All of you keep slipping off the rails.

@averagejoe1 saidI'm sorry, moron, but where in this thread do I say anything in favor of reparations?

I've already indicated that I don't see reparations as being feasible. I'll wait while you look up "feasible" in a dictionary.

@soothfast saidOf course it is a given that it is not feasible, unless they print the money to hand out to these beggars.

But the question on the forum is, do you think money should be paid to descendants of slaves? A new opportunity to display your liberalism.
It appears that it is you who does not get the issue, does not get who-said-what.
@averagejoe1 saidI said it's political theater, and I mean it. I'm opposed to giving money to descendants of slaves.

@soothfast saidThankyou both for your opinion, and for saying it. Others here will not tell us why it is OK.

@soothfast saidSlavery - a racist institution: I couldn't agree more, the damm democrats!
The descendants of slaves.

I would have preferred an answer between liberal and conservative, but you're Ok.
It was simply to show that liberals suck at math.
Many believe that America's debt of over $31 Trillion is in surmountable.
In the meantime, if California takes serious these demands for some $200 million per person in reparations,
That will cost California $169 Trillion, 5.4 times the American debt.
Sure got some swift thinkers there on the liberal side of things, eh?

If we are going to go back in time to give reparations to people with the same skin color as the slaves of yore,
then we should make good the payment from the people in the same political party that owned ALL slaves...
The Democratic Party!
Ohhh, EoT, you are such a genius! 😍 Woke, meet Earl of Trump 🙂
@earl-of-trumps saidThese reparations are not for the heirs of slavery they are for Black individuals who lived in CA from the 30’s through the 70’s. There aren’t many of those people.

ATHENS, Ala. — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was born about 40 miles from his great-great-grandfathers’ Alabama cotton farms, worked by slaves a 100 years before.
@athousandyoung saidIt's really very simple, ATYY, if a $1.2 million per eligible person makes it a total cost of $800 Billion, then,
These reparations are not for the heirs of slavery they are for Black individuals who lived in CA from the 30’s through the 70’s. There aren’t many of those people.
moving the payout per person to $200 Million means that the total package cost is now 200/1.2 times higher,
or 166.7 times higher. So $800 Billion x 166.7 = $133.4 Trillion. You can check the math

So you think that if Mitch McConnell is Republican, then his great-great-grandfather must be Republican too?
I am a bit surprised at you, ATYY. I thought you were smarter than that.
NO Republicans owned slaves. Their members were all anti Slavery.
@earl-of-trumps saidI don't think you honestly read what I wrote.

Mitch McConnell is an example of someone who inherited slave money from his Democrat ancestor because his Democrat ancestor was a Southerner and Mitch is from Alabama. Today's Democrats are not inheriting slave money because they aren't coming from the South where slavery was practiced.
Is this true or not?
I do not in any way dispute the fact that slave owners and their defenders were all or nearly all Democrats at the time.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Democrats
Southern Democrats are affiliates of the U.S. Democratic Party who reside in the Southern United States.[1] [Most of them voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by holding the longest filibuster in American Senate history while Democrats in non-Southern states supported the Civil Rights Act of 1964. After 1994 the Republicans typically won most elections in the South.
@earl-of-trumps saidCalifornia is not paying $200,000,000 to anybody over this. Your numbers are wrong. Where are you getting them from? You can't seriously be relying on JJ who is an open racist for your numbers are you?
