This is the "liberal" candidate?
This is the "anti-war" candidate, keeping Gates in charge?
No more withdrawal talk, but "draw downs" of troops?
No more "ending Bush's tax cuts" but letting them expire in a few years?
Backing off of promised oil company windfall profit taxes?
A health care plan that leaves in charge....guess who....insurance companies?
Fully supporting the Wall Street cash grabs?
Fewer and fewer promises and more and more vague language.....
Yep, looks like it's business as usual. Don't get lost in the hype and forget who's really in charge.

This two party "democracy" makes me sick.

He's certainly liberal by comparison to what just went out. I'm willing to give Obama a chance before passing judgment. More than likley he'll bring America back from the far right toward the center. Which I'm pretty sure is good by most people's standards, I don't think there'll be the big socialist revolution that the Conservatives were spouting.

We are awaiting opposing views.....waiting.....forever waiting........😉
As for being a liberal, well, Obama has been pretty moderate throughout his career and the campaign. You just thought he was an extreme liberal because you get your opinion from the t.v.

If you ignore the hype (TV) and focus on policy, he's hardly liberal. He only appears so because he's as left as it gets in the mainstream.
As for giving him a chance?
I don't owe him a thing. In fact, I help pay his salary.
He's an elected official- Obama owes everything to the people that put him where he is and should not entitled to ANY benefit of the doubt.
The duty of an informed population is to hold the feet of their leaders to the fire, no matter how popular they may be. He has given liberals PLENTY of concrete reasons to question his intentions.

It's the American people who are forcing the Democrats to take the kind of path that the Clinton administration did in many respects, which was basically about the furthest to the right that the Democrats could go without compromising their core values. Obama will have to do the same thing as Bill Clinton did unless the American people make it politically safe to move a bit further to the left. Of course, once Obama fixes the economic crisis this might help a few working-class white swing voters realise that Reagan was full of BS.
