That's very much my point.
If you ignore the hype (TV) and focus on policy, he's hardly liberal. He only appears so because he's as left as it gets in the mainstream.
As for giving him a chance?
I don't owe him a thing. In fact, I help pay his salary.
He's an elected official- Obama owes everything to the people that put him where he is and should ...[text shortened]... they may be. He has given liberals PLENTY of concrete reasons to question his intentions.
You don't owe him anything other the common courtesy that you give to anyone. He is definitely entitled to the benefit of the doubt. He isn't even in office yet. He hasn't done anything more than gather staffers.
Do you expect miracles? I consider myself to be very liberal and I don't see any reason to question his intentions. Right now, surrounding yourselves with dissenting opinions is a change and it is the best way to accomplish the things that you want to get done. If you surround yourself with sycophants you will get nothing done or you will push an agenda that is good for you, but not for the nation.
Did you expect him to put a bunch of extreme liberals in offices and to try and shove a left winged agenda down Republicans throats? He has said all along that he is trying to united not divide. You don't do that by bullying.

As far as questioning his intentions, perhaps I should rephrase my position.
I completely disagree with many of Obama's positions. And the more I hear him speak, the more keep getting added to the list.
"I consider myself to be very liberal..."
Interesting.
And yet you do not seem to want someone in office that will take a "very liberal" stance. So "very liberal" means what then? Playing "nice" with Republicans? Corporations? The military industrial complex? Wall Street? Cabinet appointments that won't rock the boat?
This is why there is no left in this country. The "left" is too damn nice.
You see, what I want is someone that actually WILL try to shove a left winged agenda down Republican throats.
