We can define what kinds of pornography are damaging to the sexual education and development of curious teenagers. Pornography that demeans and degenerates women is a typical example of this.
Not all pornography is damaging by any means. I learned a thing or two from watching pornos in my early years. What red-blooded teenage boy didn't? It's the more hardcore and extreme material that has become readily available through the internet that will mess up a young man's idea of what sexual pleasure normally is. I don't have any proof that this is happening but when you see the kinds of porn out there and see the age group who use the internet most frequently, it doesn't take a genius...

Originally posted by WulebgrIt's not the viewing of porno which creates problems. It's the not discussing it like any normal subject which drives it underground and makes it fester in minds.

Fester? That's such a cool word.

you've poisoned my thread meant for a discussion of the rise to power of the religious right, so I moved your post to its own thread; pornography is not the source of power for the cultural conservatives, so it does not belong where you introduced it

To clarify : You're telling me you've gotten the whole cause and correlation of pornography and socially deviant behavior figured out ? I don't think so . They've been studying this for years at a higher level than you or I will ever be at . It's dead-locked/intertwined just as closely as the nature vs. nurture arguement .

would you like to answer me this when a child watches bamby the cartoon, does that make the child into a conservationist, or as it grows older the arguement for/against. when watching the biblic films does that make you a christian, or does the agruement for/against. to my mind those who are guided by the films have childish minds and are easy influenced no matter what age they are. Tho showing porn to children is without question wrong, adults should know that when you watch a movie the actors who get shot do not actualy die so when you see sex on movies its not .

I once walked in on my parents having sex. I was so traumatised, but I told myself "pretend it was just a movie, pretend it was just a movie!"
This worked for awhile. Then one day I discovered their collection of home made movies ............

And why are you so quick to judge a bunch of people with PhDs
as having the authoritative final opinion on something? I personally
know a lot of people with PhDs who are complete morons and the
two smartest people I know don't even have 'advanced degrees.'
PhDs are just pieces of paper. The proof is in the proof, so to speak.
Why don't you cite one of these studies for peer review here at
RHP, instead of blithely refering to them as Gospel Truth?
Nemesio
[Why don't you cite one of these studies for peer review here atI never advanced the theory that anyone with a PHD should immediately be defered to or taken for his word .

And as I can see by your quote , you completely missed the point . Let me slow down for you (count using your fingers and don't be afraid to move your lips when you get to big words ): There are many studies by many professionals which are contratictory , or can come to no conclussion . Thus I doubt that there can be a clear cut agreed upon conclussion for the sake of our arguement here .
Go back and read the post carefully and you will find that your attempted attack bolstered my arguement .
