Here is a typical tactic used by bigots, they make false claims about your beliefs. If you correct them on it, they cannot admit they were wrong as about their bigoted comment, instead they attack your beliefs as if you should bow down to their beliefs.

You can see Z use this tactic on me in the Texas thread.

So you believe that Jesus told people nothing is sinful? Just wondering what you believe since you brought it up.
Oops, put sinning in there. And as Justice Potter Stewart once said...."I can't define porn, bout I know it when I see it"
So yes, put sinning in the same category as breaking a law, my bad. He who judges will know a sin when he sees it!!!!

Some would claim that if you recognize something as sin, then you are being judgmental. Glad to see you are not one of those people.

I believe a person is open minded when that person allows others to do things that are immoral in my mind. If it is not against the law, then I have no problem with people doing it.

Most people seem to believe that open minded means you think like a liberal, and being a liberal believe others should not be allowed to believe differently. Such people would be called bigots. ...[text shortened]... o allows others to believe differently or the one that demands others accept their beliefs as truth?
Putting forth a personal opinion of a definition of a phrase from such a narrow scope is a fundamental red flag for closed mindedness.

It reveals a bit about you.
Your position on many subjects from a personal platform of morality is revealing.
Particularly on an issue like abortion.
Abortion is not against the law, therefore you have nothing against it, correct ?

Or.......perhaps you'd like to reconsider your post ?? Hmmmm ????

The better term to describe what you said is politically incorrect.

Here is the definition of bigot

a person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, especially one who is prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.

"don't let a few small-minded bigots destroy the good

So how am I being antagonistic if I say do what you want? Is it prejudice to say that a certain behavior is sinful so I am not going to do it? There is the extra step of trying to control others that makes you a bigot.

You frame your questions as partisan when that is unnecessary. But I think you bring up a larger issue of whether morality is dictated through our legal system?

I don't think it is. There are lots of laws that I think are immoral. Doing something illegal does not make it immoral.

The strength of laws is that we all live by the same ones. Not true with morality.

The problem is when certain people who disagree with what is moral or immoral then attempts to belittle the other side with such terms as bigots.

I reserve the term for those who believe they can tell others what to believe, not simply stating what you believe.

Yes, that is a definition of a bigot.
But I was responding to your belief what makes a person opened minded.
Stick to your subject.

Open minded simply means you allow others to believe what they want to believe. Forcing your views on others as if what you believe is absolute truth makes you closed minded.

At what point was I ever forcing my views on you ?
I was merely making an observation on what you said.
If your collar is getting a little tight, maybe you should take a short break. 😛

As long as you do not claim my views are bigoted and wrong, then you are fine.

Your definition of open minded is a bit closed minded.

The indians were at war with US. We took the land we wanted and let them live on reservations, which is land the US did not feel was useful.

So you have a problem with the US killing its enemies. Gotcha, you are lucky to live in a world where your country is protected by the US. The Western world depends on the US for safety.
....Luckily, the U.S. armed forces does employ intelligence tests, and that
simply means we will never have to count on you for protection.

Who re-defines what a bigot is?

Yeah, a bigot.

They claim that people who are such bigots come from areas with good education systems. Yet they need to have so much explained to them.
Oh, the huge-ass irony.
