Uhh - I don't think anything in that post said that she was a member - read carefully.

It appears as if the New York Times went with something not checked fully - it is Palin's husband who was a member.

Good to see that they were up front with their retraction - something that rarely happened when it was a Democrat being impugned.

Educated, classy, tolerant, open and charming, says the man who refers to the next VP of the United States as "the hypocrite Republican tramp running with McCain." By the way, you and all the other elitist here can start eating crow -- the Times not only got the story wrong, they lied! Palin was never a member of the Alaska Independence Party:

Yes, I do like this woman, and I have been considering voting for McCain now. However, I still don't like some things about McCain. I know that Bob Barr doesn't really have enough supporters to win and that has been another consideration I have been fa ...[text shortened]... stated he would. And that is one right that keeps the others from being totally taken away.
Well there is that statement 'you shall have the right to bear arms'. I don't think they were talking biology there....

Yes, try this.

Recorded 2007, AIP meeting

"... Our current governor, the one we are hoping to get elected, did get elected, Sarah Palin .... She was an AIP member before she got a job as mayor of Wasilla ... but to get along to go along she eventually joined the Republican party"

Joe Vogler, AIP founder
&NR=1

"... the fires of Hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred of the American Government. ... and I won't be buried under their damn flag ..."

Also, it is hearsay at this point, because I can't find the source, but Todd Palin is said to have been a member until 2002.
