Atheists, as all human beings, need a scapegoat to lay all the burdens of evil on. Of course they, like all other human beings, are not inclined to chose themselves as the scapegoat, but rather the "other", in case of the atheist the other is necessarily the theist or religion in general.
Choosing to blame "the other" for the evils in the world and failing to take a good look at oneself is a constantly necessarily failing concept of trying to reach peace of the inner self and yet another tragic reason to go to war against the chosen scapegoat in order to kill or "neutralise" the scapegoat who has been declared the originator of evil in the world. By killing or "neutralising" the scapegoat, peace will be restored, until of course evil strikes again.
