Republicans hate this country. What they "love" is a country that no longer exists i.e. one based on the unencumbered economic and political dominance of a rich white male elite. They will do anything to get back to "that" country including stopping the majority from effectively determining public policy.

Here's what you and most right wingers are really bothered by: in 1940 the US population was 89.8% "white", 10.2% another "race" and only 4.5% Hispanic.
By 2010, the "white" population was down to 72.4% with the rest being other "races" and 16.3% Hispanic.
