Jesus, I've already shown many times on this board that Trump wanted to severely restrict legal immigration. Do I have to do so AGAIN?
Your fantasies about what is going on at the border is noted.
The bottom line is you and right wingers want the People to be ruled. The Left wants the People to rule.
govern. I’m tuckered, will tuck in. How bout AOC taking to the street with a bullhorn yesterday? Your crowd is really something. A new Maxine Waters in the making. It is just so f’n nasty,
@averagejoe1 saidI don't believe you; you'd probably assume the black guy was from some violent "culture " and pass over him for that reason.
No, that is NOT what meant. Color is irrelevant, to start with. Merit (talent) is the deal. Bring a white guy and a POC to my office, I’ll hire the one who will be best for the job. Would t you? Would t anyone.
I guess my diluted ref was misunderstood. Classrooms now are being diluted by dumbing them down with the inclusion of students that bring the others down. Certainly you know that?
So apply same logic to the country. You need some sleep.
Immigrants to this country have heard this bigoted bunk for 250 years. My ancestors from Ireland heard it in the 1840s.
@AverageJoe1
I think the idea was to treat this issue more strategically and holographically instead of just tactically with silly "PR/optics" border walls and blinders on.
Another way to express this: to get an idea of the causes instead of just treating the symptoms.
It's a tricky problem. The USA can't just go wipe out drug cartels and autocratic strongmen in the south, because that undermines our brand as the beacon of democracy.
I don't know what the solution is, and I'm also not going to ask what "conservatives" think the solution might involve.
However, I'm willing to hear your thoughts on the matter. What could or should the USA do re: Mexico and Central America to slow down or stop the flow of immigrants, i.e., to help them feel they can live a good life in their home countries instead of doing whatever it takes to move here, without even a promise of admission?
@averagejoe1 saidWhy are you so divisive, Joe?

Do they intend to stop the influx,... to secure the border, for example? Nothing in the news about future plans, but we figure y'all have an inside track
We noted that she was 700 miles away from the crisis, curious indeed. On the other hand, Trump, who loves our country, will be at Ground Crisis on Wednesday.

@no1marauder saidThNKYOU. An answer to the question. She did do that, and then came home. I would think that she would have gotten a panel together to figure out how to help them not come, and maybe get some cargo planes to take the abandoned children back to their families and neighbors. They can speak the language there. Why is that so difficult? Can this whole fiasco of allowing them in the first place be considered a mistake? Turmp had it where they came iin legally, but you folks seem to think that the ones who are not legal should still come in. Curious indeed. So you want to do away with 'legal' entry. Conservatives do not. Let us agree to disagree. Curious indeed.

@kevin-eleven saidNot so tricky when one answer is to make it like it was before Biden. She should have come home and said that. As to an immediate answer, see those children. Free them from the little prisons, and transport them to where they would be better-cared for....home.

What would I do? Put it back like it was. Legal entry. Suianne, 'sad' is how I feel when I see these people who were 'promised' whatever Joe promised traipse across thousands miles in their flip flops.
As to helping them live better in their own countries which you suggest, we already send hundreds of millions to those countries.
@kevin-eleven saidYou have a point, but libs use the word 'rule' (see Marauder above) which gives conservatives the creeps., so maybe it is discussions such as that, and your following people like Maxine Waters, and socialists like AOC, which make me want to distance myself from such thought and such allegiance.

@averagejoe1 said40 years ago, Republicans cheered when Ronald Reagan on the eve of his election called America a "shining city on the hill". Now, Republicans cheer when Trump parrots Russian propaganda that American democracy is fake.
I'm inclined to agree with you, so it boils down to which party do you think loves THIS country the most (not guatemala or columbia or mexico) and wants to protect THIS country, and the citizens of this country. Which has the most recognizable vision for the future, other than socialism , blah blah blah. You know the drill.
Pick one. Average Joe
Lest we forget, our country was founded on the right to vote. "Taxation without representation." The party that loves this country the most would support the right to vote, free and fair elections. The party that loves this country would not be cheering at an event in which someone just accused the US of "phony elections" and called us a "sick country". That's not my party anymore. I can't do it.
The same people calling themselves "patriots" think the US is sick, is a banana republic, is a third world country, thinks our elections are fake, hoax crime, think our current president is unconstitutionally elected and illegitimate, thinks the FBI and the Pentagon and the State department and the CDC should be defunded. How can you love your country and hate all the institutions that represent that country?
@wildgrass saidYour first two paras simply confirm that we need fair election laws, which Ga AZ, et al are doing.

I truly don’t get your last question, following your diatribe that we think this and that. Eg, you say we think FBI et al should be defunded? Take a nap, mr emotion.
@averagejoe1 saidAll besides the point that (based on the cheers at the latest Trump rally) Republicans think our country is "sick" and our elections are "Phony". Governor Abbott of Texas nodded along as Trump called our country a "banana republic" and "a third world country.... because our elections are a mess." Do those sound like things people say when they love our country?

The investigations are fine, but they are ongoing. The jury is out. Even if GA and AZ both come back with evidence of fraud, Trump doesn't get to be president. Absent clear evidence, maybe we shouldn't be calling our own elections phony, fake and an illegitimate hoax. Certainly it does not scream "I love my country."
To clarify, only Republicans who are being actively investigated by the FBI want to defund it.
"If Democrats want to defund the police, they should start with the FBI," - Matt Gaetz (R).

Kamala will do nothing, just like the prior administration and the two before that. Enough political donors rely on Illegal immigrant labor for profit they will perpetuate the cycle until the employment opportunity for illegals is shut down.
@wildgrass saidWhen you fellers routinely say that (we, Or whomever ) rely on illegal immigration for profit, do not those immigrants get paid? Why in the hell don’t you ‘close’ your points?
So you're with Matt gaetz? Defund the fbi?
Kamala will do nothing, just like the prior administration and the two before that. Enough political donors rely on Illegal immigrant labor for profit they will perpetuate the cycle until the employment opportunity for illegals is shut down.
So, the employer is happy with his profit (a concept derided daily in the Forum) and the illegal person, who is working voluntarily, is happy with his profit, I.e. his wage.
So WE would all be happy to hear your point. Jesus.
