@eladar saidI’m surprised you don’t know what the implications of declaring yourself an LGBTQ free zone are and what you do not understand about my post.
So you believe countries should sell their sovereignty?
If Trumps America did it you’d be as outraged as me but because of your rabid hatred for the EU you seem fine with the direction of travel in Poland and Hungary.
@kevcvs57 saidI do not believe you support national sovereignty. It means your opinions about other countries do not matter. You are simply arrogant.

Wanda Traczyk-Stawska, a 94-year-old veteran of the Warsaw Uprising against the Nazi German occupation in 1944, spoke at one event.
"This is our Europe and nobody is going to take us out of it," she said.
Poles backing EU membership have taken part in protests across the country, amid fears it could leave the bloc.
The rallies on Sunday were held in response to a top court ruling that said key EU laws were "incompatible" with the Polish constitution.
Protests were held in about 100 towns and cities, with some 100,000 people gathering in the capital, Warsaw.

Even the Polish prime minister wants to remain in Europe.
I say: follow the treaties you signed then, you bunch of degenerate fake-Englanders. Or we’ll sell yer arse to Russia for a bottle of vodka and some toilet paper.
@shavixmir saidSame old “you're all Nazis” rhetoric.

Change is coming in Poland
@sonhouse saidI am well aware of what Shav is referring to and of course I do not approve of the extremism he is pointing to.
@divegeester
You think Poland is NOT what Shav said? He is right you know.
The world is not polarised sonhouse; extremism and racism might bandwagon on various political vehicles for sure, but, if and when the vote in Poland is tipped to leave the EU, it will be won by the majority of independence moderates, as it was in the UK.
You guys on the far left really ought to not post your resistance by continually raising the red warning flags of Nazism, bigotry and whatever other inflammatory rhetoric which you feel justifies your idealism.
You don’t condemn Islam or Muslims for the minority of hateful extremists so don’t do it here. Instead focus on the centre majorities, those who object to the established political power of the EU body. I don’t object to European cooperation, nor to social, cultural integrations in our nations. The shared security and intelligence protocols are of course essential. I object to a European Parliament siphoning national democratic power.
@divegeester saidThe last sentence is a strong point.

There will always be a large pro and anti Brexit contingent out there.
And I believe that Brexit is contributing to current pains in UK today, even if in combination with emerging from COVID.
Transitional pains are always part of major change.
My question.....
Is (was) there any way to reap the benefits that the EU brought about without the bureaucracy ?
@mghrn55 saidThat is what we (moderates on both sides) all want I think.

Bureaucracy is a necessary evil I suppose, but there is a difference between general bureaucracy and political power. The EU evolves it’s power from the independent nations, general bureaucracy is a means. Bureaucracy can be collapsed and restructured relatively easily, political power cannot. Big difference I think.
It’s the government of the “European Parliament” which I object to, not the higher collective objectives.
@divegeester saidThat’s just so much BS, the Brexit campaign was based on knuckle dragging right wing tropes from beginning to end, of course there are some reasonable people who genuinely feel the UK is better off outside the EU but you won because you galvanised the bitter and twisted Johnny Foreigner hating racist caucus and told bare faced lies about the supposed fruits of Brexit and they are exactly the same strategies that will be used in Eastern Europe to the delight of the Putin troll factories, this time the hook is homophobia and fundamentalist catholic zealotry. Too pretend otherwise is very disingenuous.

The situation in Poland and Hungary is not really comparable to Brexit because there is no long running band of isolationist anti Europeans in either country, the powers that be do not want to get off the EU gravy train they simply want the EU to ignore their swing to the extreme right. If the EU cannot convince the majorities in these countries to respect the rights of all their citizens then they should cut all EU funding and market access thus allowing their membership to wither on the vine.
@kevcvs57 saidTotally agree!

It’s good to see you standing up for the Poles’ rights to be homophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-female and all other variations of right-wing nationalist agendas.
