Unions used to be notoriously linked to the DNC at the hip as they fought for special perks for their workers. However, one of the key points they fought was health care, giving many of their members Cadillac health care plans with private insurers.

However, now that the DNC has gone full socialist and want socialized health care that will cause these union members to take a cut in their level of coverage while making their costs go up, I no longer believe they are linked at the hip. Now they are flat out adversaries.

I think the democrats will have to do what Obama did to sell his health care plan, just lie to people saying that their health care rates won't increase and they can keep the same health care plans and doctors. Even at that, union were given special perks under Obamacare. I suppose they might consider giving the special perks under a socialized system as well.

Well said, but this is just a very small example of the unintended consequences that will happen when the Socialists take over our lives and put us all under socialism. I had hoped that I am well-fixed enough to be one of the socialists, but it dawned on me that I think one has to be 'in' government to qualify...to keep living a cushy life. Dems, I think you will get me in the end!!!!!

I think that this would be a good thread to hold a forum to take a vote: How many here would like to live under Socialism....that is, if Bernie or Warren become president?

I was looking at polling numbers in places like Michigan which are heavy union states. The polls show Warren in the Dumpster there. I suppose Biden might pull out a win saying he is not for socialized medicine, but then how to win the nomination in the socialist party?

Perhaps he could just change his mind later on about it. Or using the words of a politician, "evolve" towards a certain position.

The whole Hunter scandal is a bomb ready to go off if the Dems to nominate Biden.

No real good choices for them.

Well they can't go with Warren because that could be two losses to female candidates back to back...

Talk about a real kick to the va-jay-jay

If the United States were to copy one of the working health care systems in the world, you'd get massive cost reductions with improved coverage. Union workers will support such a system as it would no longer require them to have a job in order to obtain great health care coverage, as is the case in the civilized parts of the world. This opens up room for unions to negotiate some of the perks enjoyed by workers in rich countries, like 35-hour working weeks, more holidays, etc. as they no longer would need to waste their bargaining chips on health care plans.

One thing we can agree on, if government gets a hold of health care, costs will go way down overall. Only the bare minimum in care will be provided.....if that.

But even Bernie admits, we will all experience tax hikes to start it up.

Will Warren admit this? I doubt it. Pocahontas is not know for truthfulness.

Do you think there is something innately good about European governments which allows them to regulate the provision of affordable universal access to excellent health care, while preventing the American government from doing the same?

Like everything, there is good and bad to it.

Take Al Capone, for example. He was a notorious criminal and murderer, yet he ran soup kitchens for the poor. So it all comes down to assessing the overall big picture and not just cherry picking the good things.

But this is hard to do as we have seen with the various VA scandals across the country, which is America's current socialized medicine. Some of these scandals were almost buried for on one to even see. Exactly how prevalent are these scandals and has their been any resolution and justice?

It is a scary thing knowing that there is no one above government, while it is government who is the on screwing you over. That is my primary concern

You say 'great' healthcare system first above...you say 'excellent' health care second above. (define those 2 words as applied to health care. please??)

Google 'waiting times in various countries for elective surgery', and wonder also why people come here for surgeries more than any other country. Also, note that due to rules and regs in your countries, there is not near the development of new miracles and procedures in the medical world. Everyone is using our ideas, etc. Also note, if you convinced us to be like your little homogeneous countries sprinkled around over there, the socialist influence and resulting limitations would cause INNOVATION to come to a HALT. What a downer, Kazet.

The main theme of your post, subtly not stated, is that you want government controlled healthcare. I simply just cannot imagine. Do you not think it might be a little Better and Less Expensive to let the free market (competition, cross state lines, the works) run free and give us choices?

So your view is really that Americans are just innately inferior and would never be able to design an efficient health care system that delivers high-quality medical care, even if all they had to do was copy a good health care system from elsewhere?

Also note that government health care could start off great................then over time change on a whim.

It's like the Ponzi Scheme of Social Security. Nothing is promised to us.....NOTHING!

I'm getting that Kazet is of a different opinion, he is preaching govt coverage, so as long as there is a govt,, that govt will decide what in the hell coverage will be, which works just fine, according to him(!) in little bitty countries. I wish he would close his suggestion by telling us which country of 330Million people, which we should copy , has pulled off such wonderful health care (excellent and great!). I know a lot about our medicine, I could get a knee replacement appointment 3 days from now, no problem. As a matter of fact, I can do just about anything in that regard, easy peasy. Kazet is a Pollyanna in Marxist clothing!

Well, it is just the three of us. Time to vote. My vote is to NOT live under Socialism. What are your two votes?
