The post that was quoted here has been removed"Approve" isn't the right word. I'm not surprised. According to articles he has been deliberately controversial before ( on non-Israel topics ). Nelson stated that harsh criticism of Israel was widespread amongst faculty members at Illinois. Had he presented his argument in a manner more befitting a man of his academic status perhaps he would still be in a job.

If he was close to getting tenure, that might have been a factor in the school deciding to offload his now, while they could still do so.
