On a more serious note, nobody can answer your question. It maybe has something to do with the american dream, with the declaration of independence, mcdonalds, rock'n roll and all that stuff.

The "democracy" argument seems to be used like this. We are more democratic than them, hence, we are freer, hence, we are closer to the human ideal, hence, we should help them to be more like us - let's perform a regime change for them, they'll be thankful eventually.
It also helps that we are bigger and stronger and our (usntated) goal is to be the very first among other democratic equals.
