All of those thing I listed are state controlled. NASA is government funded. The military is government funded. The public school system is state government funded.
Now, how is NASA different than the Soviet space program?
How is our military different than the Russian military?
Public schools. Russians have them too.

Space X is the exception. Privately owned by Musk and other stock shareholders.
