Crazy people do not necessarily represent who they claim to represent. Were Democrats really going to eliminate the police? The support from even mainstream policy was far greater then anything Qanon advocates.
That being said eliminate the police is far closer to a dumb idea that isn't going to happen then the end of the United States, right?

I'm not a huge fan of Trump but I'm not a huge fan of many Democratic ideas either. (If you want to talk about Trump and Russia, it is worth mentioning that Putin wasn't willing to risk Trumps reaction to an invasion of the Ukraine, but he certainly doesnt seem afraid of Biden's reaction.)

Putin's larger goal is to eventually destroy NATO. Or render it irrelevant.
With someone like Trump in the White House, why bother spending all his money on the invasion when you have somebody who is openly talking abut NATO be ...[text shortened]... ump might have further considered pulling the US from NATO if he had won in 2020.

Everything Trump does is about winning, and thereby massaging his enormous and insatiable ego. His screaming about NATO was a tactic to try to get more NATO funding from the Europeans. That would have been a big negotiation victory he could crow about.

But above all, an enormous ego wants power. And leadership of NATO gives the US tremendous power over resources it yields and controls. Trump would never give something like that up.
