The most striking thing to me in this opinion is that former Justice Antonin Scalia would have dissented. In the not-so-distant past, he was one of the most conservative justices on the court.
Here was the opinion he wrote on behalf of the conservative majority 14 years ago. Compare this to the most recent decision and you can see how far the court has swung to extreme right-wing judicial activism.
Like most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited... the right was not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose

Interesting article here that points out the carrying of firearms was banned in many cities and towns in the US in the 1800's including the West and South. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/gun-control-old-west-180968013/
