Or, leave them the hell alone? This will be money they win on the backs of MANY others, to blow at their will. Is there any lib here who will come forward, after many demeaning threads of people who have money they did not earn, and tell us your true feelings of leaving this person alone, or attacking their 'ill-gotten'; gains. I know, I know, you dont like AvJOe, but what about this person. What are we to do!!??!!????
Just like a welfare handout on steroids x 10,000 this person is disincentivized to go to work for a living. One less productive citizen.

@Earl-of-Trumps
You want it now, you get roughly one third, so 441 mil turns to 147 mil
I wouldn't cry too much over thatπŸ™‚

True but capital gains tax still applies.

So the money you won isn't taxed but if you buy something like a mansion and sell it later you have to pay the capital gains tax.
Still better than the USA of course πŸ˜‰
Of course. Just the receipt of the winnings is tax free.

Anybody who is carefully calculating expectation value will not play lottery in the first place. It's a tax on stupid people.

It is indeed. But this thread is my side-door effort to get libs to tell us that it is OK for him to keep his net winnings, but then to hypocritically say that other people have to pay a lot of tax out of their hard-earned money.
OR, OR,,,,for them to say that he needs to (should) hand over all of his winnings except for what he needs to have a comfortable life. Just hand it over. Someone here thinks that . Show Yourself!!

They'll pay their fair share in taxes, unlike you and your capitalist buddies.

It should be 441 separate one million dollar prizes.

441 different people becoming millionaires is better for the economy than one person winning all of it.

The lottery system needs to change πŸ€”
1 million is nothing these days.

You are right, too much !?!?...will refrain from that.

As to Item B above.....I have this question. There is no question that liberal policies are about equality, equity, whatever. Spreading the wealth, etc., many phrases about the same thing.
So in your plight to relieve rich people of their riches, to be spent as the govt sees fit, why would you say here that ...[text shortened]... will be done about seizing a portion of the $320M that will be pocketed by The Winner after taxes?
NO ONE EVER SAID THAT
Why do you insist
on being such a putz?

In America, winning $441 mill amounts to winning $22.05 mill for 20 years.
If you want it all NOW, prepare to get a heavy reduction.

THEN, they tax it all
So that makes ONE guy paying his fair share. Who's next?

Yeah, it's all taxed.
I was surprised to learn
that, even prizes, on game
shows, are taxed.
Of course, it's called a windfall.

Try $200 million.

And he's not rich. If he's smart, he'll keep his job and still be a working class stiff. But now he'll have a safety cushion for retirement and a couple of things he's always wanted. Maybe a new car. Maybe a new house. But he'll still be the same person he was before. Let him have his dream.

Really? That's amazing. Probably only for Canadians.

But if an American wins, the IRS will take half.
