@dood111 saidApparently the WASPs let the Catholics do it. 😏
You guess?
Since it was mostly WASP's and Catholics that developed the academic disciplines of our American legal system, where did this guess of yours come from?
You know the Republic is a Roman thing right? Not English?
The Latino Roman Catholic is the guy on the horse. The Englishman is the savage on foot.

“There is a long tradition in the U.S. of Catholics entering the legal profession, most obviously law enforcement but in other areas as well,” said Richard Doerflinger, a fellow at the University of Notre Dame Center for Ethics and Culture...
Mr. Doerflinger says that evangelical Protestants may more be reluctant to pursue legal careers because they often see “a sharper divide between the city of God and the city of man,” whereas Catholicism provides a natural bridge “between the founding principles of our nation and basic principles of Catholic social teaching.”

@handyandy saidnot at all but dems will work that aspect of Amy to a tee.
By devout, do you mean she wants to burn non-believers at the stake?
they'll tell you that her religious views conflict with the separation of church and state. book it.

@sonhouse saidThe ‘plan’ will be difficult to formulate, as it isimply just HAS to cover illegals. So the real question is how Sonhouse supports Biden who wants our (resources) to cover people, invaders, whomever, that are illegally in our country.
@vivify
Because she is rabidly against ACA AND Roe V Wade, if they repeal ACA, not only will millions go uncovered but Covid patients who test positive will forever be pre existing conditions. So MANY millions will suffer because of this pick.
Also BTW, Repubs have ZERO replacement of the ACA, its been near 4 years since they have tried several times to kill it and have NEVER come up with a replacement plan.
Can someone enlighten us as to how that makes sense?

@earl-of-trumps saidI doubt that was Average Joe's motivation for this thread.
Because catholics do not believe in birth control

@sonhouse saidSo then the issue isn't that she's Catholic; the issue is that she's a hard-right conservative.

@handyandy saidImpossible to say.

@earl-of-trumps saidOnly if you forgot that Catholics do not approve of certain types of birth control and Judge Barrett wants to overturn Roe vs. Wade.
Impossible to say.

SIX
Before the death of Justice Ginsburg at age 87, the Supreme Court included five Catholic justices (Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Sonia Sotomayor and Brett Kavanaugh) and three Jewish justices (Ms. Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer and Elena Kagan). The ninth justice, Neil Gorsuch, was raised Catholic but reportedly attends an Episcopal church.
It'd technically be 5 Catholics, a Protestant, and three Jews.
Jewish people make up less than 3% of the US by every metric.
Catholics make up around 22% of the population.
Protestants make up something like 43% of the US population.
(These are from three different sources that I just got from throwing the queries into DuckDuckGo -- didn't bother linking each individual claim here.)

@handyandy saidWhen the US constitution was being drafted the Church of England was that country's official state religion.
Do you think her religious views conflict with separation of church and state?
The idea behind 'separation of church and state' (in the US) was to prevent the establishment of an official state religion.
It was never meant to prevent individuals with religious beliefs from holding public office.

@earl-of-trumps saidOf course I should it doesn’t make a tinkers toss to me as long as they don’t try to shove their religious BS down mine or anyone else’s throat.
In that case, Biden is Catholic, too. I think you should never vote for him or support him.
Right?
I think Biden has a track record of not being a dogmatic fundamentalist.
There is nothing wrong with someone having private religious beliefs but if they are in public service they should keep the private and public distinctly seperate.

@philokalia saidWhat if one the Justices were Muslim? Surely conservatives would want religion kept separate then, right?
Why should they be kept separate?

@philokalia saidIf you don’t think they should perhaps you should move to Iran.
Why should they be kept separate?
How can you base a system of government on an imaginary creature? I mean how retarded would that be.
