@athousandyoung saidWell yeah them cartoons carry all the gravitas and authority of, well, a cartoon.
Of course not. If they tried they'd lose the Canaries.

The idea is simply to let them know that Spain can close the Pillars of Hercules or even help defend Latin America if they wanted so they'd get more respect and have a better negotiating position.

@no1marauder saidheHum... well, outside of that debt thing
LMAO!
Running up debt that he never intends to pay has been a specialty of his outside of and in office.
@kevcvs57 saidIt doesn't need authority. The arguments are sound.

The post that was quoted here has been removedWhat does the UN say about assassinating Iranian generals with cruise missiles? The USA doesn't care what the UN says. And the British refuse to respect the specifics of the Treaty of Utrecht Article X which states that the waters east of Gibraltar are Spanish territorial waters.
Closing the Straits would be a contingency plan in case the Anglo rivals choose to break the rules themselves (which they do).
The South China Sea is another good example of international waters that local powers are interested in asserting military influence in.
@athousandyoung saidNo why don’t you explain in your own words ( based on a cartoon if you like ) how Spain’s navy is going to block off access to the Mediterranean and keep the Anglos out. In the real world.
*they're
You want to elaborate?
Everything your Russian puppet says is pure speculation where every variable goes in Spain’s favour whilst UK forces have all the luck of “Final Destination” character.
P.s your puppet didn’t even mention our new aircraft carrier or the interests of the US fifth fleet which is quite fond of going in and out of the Med.
@kevcvs57 saidI'm not sure what your point is. I said Spain would not take Gibraltar because the Canaries are exposed to the RN. That was the point of the videos with the puppet. Are you disagreeing with me or what?

@kevcvs57 saidMilitary wargames have shown that subs can sink large aircraft carriers even in modern times. Torpedoes are amazing things.

@athousandyoung saidYes I’m disagreeing with you Spain would not take Gibraltar for all sorts of reasons the Canaries may or may not be one of them.

But the main one would be having to declare on a fellow NATO member with all the implications that would entail.
I don’t think the UK would invade the Canaries even if Spain was stupid enough to fight its way onto Gibraltar and plant a flag, but there would be a Naval conflict and given Spain’s long coastline and an aircraft carrier with anti submarine and destroyer support I think it would convinced of the necessity to leave again quite quickly.
Spain’s only way of recovering the Rock is to woo it’s inhabitants and use the UKs departure from the EU as a starting point.
