@spruce112358 saidGo watch it and use your judgement I suppose. He was, in the typical stupid off the cuff Trumpy way, saying he's going to use executive orders on day one to start enforcing immigration law and to open up oil production. Is that really controversial?
But what if he was joking that he was joking?
Can you prove that he was not? How can we know?

To be truthful, so should you.

"We love this guy (meaning Hannity). He says, ‘You’re not going to be a dictator, are you?’ I said, ‘No, no, no. Other than day one.’ We’re closing the border, and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.”
The only time Trump uses the word dictator is while paraphrasing the moron Hannity. So why don't *you* be truthful and admit this is another nothing burger?
@Sleepyguy saidCentral authority vs Trump influenced by his strong arm buddies. You say potato I say fascist goon squad protagonist.
Not scarier than the notion of some central authority deciding who is allowed to do those things. SMH
@Sleepyguy saidThen there was Saturday: “You know, FDR 16 years — almost 16 years — he was four terms. I don’t know, are we going to be considered three-term? Or two-term?” Trump quipped at the National Rifle Association annual meeting, speaking before a crowd of gun rights supporters.

He jokes about more than 2 terms a lot. It used to be "because they spied on my campaign. I deserve another term for that."
Personally, I'm not laughing. Maybe some are. Not me.
@spruce112358 saidHe's trolling you, having a laugh at your expense. You of all people should recognise the pattern π

@Sleepyguy saidA candidate running for office is on a job interview with "The Boss", i.e. We The People. We have to decide if we want to hire this bird.

How many times have you sat down on a job interview, leaned back, and said:
SleepyGuy: "Yeah, well. First thing I'm gonna do after you hire me? Imma break ALL kinds of laws!"
Boss: {Shocked gasp}
SleepyGuy: "Look at him. He can't believe I said it. We love him though."
Boss: "Uhhhh..."
SleepyGuy: "Nah, just kidding. But what I am gonna do? Shut down them turnstiles and drill for oil on the property."
Boss: "UMMMMM...Yeah. Thanks for stopping by."
@spruce112358 saidYou not appreciating the joke is as it should be, as you are among those being trolled. But you can at least try to be realistic. He's a weirdo, not a dictator. Stop making mountains out of mole hills.

@Sleepyguy saidI just don’t see trolling as an important qualification for the job. Maybe for stand-up in a comedy club?

@Sleepyguy saidWhy is it that neither detractors nor supporters of Donald Trump take him at all seriously?

It seems Trump's jokes become jokes retroactively, when they can't be substantiated or fit into a clean conspiracy. He makes a 'joke' about shrillary Clinton getting kicked off the Watergate commission (based on a fringe internet meme no one knows about) completely unhinged from normal reality.
Then all of the sudden, he doubled down and the 'joke' becomes the truth but only for the half of America who even knows the internet memes he refers to.
Great joke, commander in chief.

@wildgrass saidTrump says stupid stuff sometimes, but I think everyone takes him seriously when he talks about enforcing immigration law and ramping up oil production. Your problem is that you hate him, his policies, and his supporters so much you will swallow any spin and get all wee wee'd up over it. The right has the same problem of course, equally susceptible to BS and propaganda. No one is listening to anyone and the TV people only lie.

Immigration effort maybe was serious but did not move the needle. Tweeted and golfed. If you do take him seriously he was just ineffective. If you don't hes just a foil against the libbies.
@wildgrass saidInteresting. What about Trump's COVID response bothered you? Two years to "flatten the curve?" Getting rolled by big pharma and Fauci? The unbelievable spending? Something else?
I didn't turn on Trump until COVID.

@Sleepyguy saidHe's a flip-flopper. Like any flip-flopper, he wants to have it both ways. I don't take flip-floppers seriously:
Trump says stupid stuff sometimes
Flip: "In an interview airing Tuesday with political analyst Jon Delano on KDKA-TV of Pittsburgh, Trump was asked whether he supports any restrictions on a person's right to contraception.
"We’re looking at that, and I'm going to have a policy on that very shortly, and I think it’s something you’ll find interesting," Trump said. "I think it’s a smart decision. We’ll be releasing it very soon."
Asked whether that means he may want to support some restrictions, Trump said, "You know, also, things really do have a lot to do with the states, and some states are going to have different policy than others."
Flop: "Later Tuesday, Trump said in all capital letters on his Truth Social website that he had "never, and will never advocate imposing restrictions on birth control." He added, also in all caps, "I do not support a ban on birth control and neither with the Republican party."
