@mott-the-hoople saidIt's closer to reality than the hypothetical presented in the OP.
very stupid analogy
@kellyjay saidGet your kid a camera for the top of his school helmet. The rest of us are tired of the nonstop pages long emails with every detail about the school day.
You want to people to be able to tell kids lets keep this secret from your parents you are setting them up for abuse. There are only a few reasons why someone would want that to occur.
Helicopter parenting is so annoying.
@wildgrass saidPutting the government between parents and their children is alarming. Do you think that the government should have total control over children, if not where do you draw the line?

@kellyjay saidOh shut up you idiot it’s THE KIDS who are saying can we keep my choice a secret from my hostile parents. Obviously if the child confided that a parent was sexually abusing them you would call the police and the social work department not the noncy parent.

It’s people exactly like you that leave kids vulnerable and nowhere to turn when they are stuck with any category of abusive parents.
@kevcvs57 saidThe trouble with your reasoning is that the state is looking at all parents as if they were hostile parents who want to abuse their kids.

@kellyjay saidWhere did anyone here say ALL parents?
You are casting aspersions on all parents, assuming the worst as if the children were already wards of the state.
If there are ANY parents abusing their kids by not respecting their decisions, that's enough to protect those kids. No one's taking umbrage about parents actually looking after their kids' best interests. Disallowing medical treatment is against their best interests.
@kellyjay saidThe trouble with your reasoning is that the right is looking at all transgenders as if they were pedophiles who want to abuse their kids.

More 'transference of motive' by the right.
