@wildgrass saidWhat exactly is your problem with any of the Ten?
Ten commandments posted in all public schools?
Here's your daily reminder: Your religion restricts what you can do, it does not restrict what I can do. Get it the heck out of public school.
BTW "bear false witness" is something trump does every single day talking bout winning an election he lost, but I'll bet all the legislators voting for this crap are MAGA enthusiasts.

Would you want to give equal exposure to Islam's guide to kill all the infidels that don't accept their effed up religion?
@Cliff-Mashburn saidThis thought occurred to me also, .....Yes, we could ask that of the nay voters who are against the commandments at school.....Are there any of the 10 that you do not subscribe to?

But, even if we all agree the commandments are good to live by, it does not do away with the problem of those cretins putting up signs saying infidels must die.
So, as a 100% conservative, I think they should not be there. Of course, I think there are many issues which should not be present in schools. Another thread.

@AverageJoe1 saidRemoving the religious aspect of the Ten Commandments and just making them guidelines for social behavior.... let's say they were reworded and left it at that...Would THAT be acceptable to the naysayers here? Are there any moral guidelines they would agree to, other than Derhhh we can all do what we want and screw whitey western culture?

@Cliff-Mashburn saidStop mandating things in general and we would not need the comparison.

@wildgrass saidMan you suck. So I guess NO rules or guidelines is what you want?

@AverageJoe1
Don't tell me you actually agree with one of the foundations of our democracy, separation of church and state?
Moot the hoot seems to think nothing wrong with 10 commandments be posted in all Louisiana public schools.
Of course that is not the end game, that is just the opening round, the next would be bible verses forced to be read at the beginning of every class and who gives a crap if the teacher is Muslim or Jewish or Scientologist or atheist, you WILL quote the verses WE provide to you or you are fired.

@Cliff-Mashburn saidNah, stop aggrandizing. You wrote equal exposure to Islam.
Man you suck. So I guess NO rules or guidelines is what you want?
LA unnecessarily mandates religious texts in public school.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidPerhaps a 'by the way' at the end, making it clear that these moral guidelines (which are fine as and of themselves) are a re - write of Buddhist writings, writ before JC ever walked the earth.

@Cliff-Mashburn saidSchools have this already in their code of conduct.

The.whole point of the government mandate here is to make it more Christian.
@AverageJoe1 saidYes, and that money is no longer the citizens' money either.
She took your suggestion, Wildgrass!!! But who wants to write about (new subject) malfeasance and buying votes!?!?
(Oh....the town of Haymeadow 'took in' money' too. Same scenario)
Damn, man, you ARE slow.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidBy not having to make payments, they still are not "getting" money from the government. Or you. Or Joe.
“ No person with a student loan has taken any money belonging to other citizens. ”
stupid fool… got it off the money tree didnt they 🙄
Is stupidity a pandemic? It sure is catching in here.
@Zahlanzi saidYep, welcome to the F'd up priorities of the Republican Party.
people putting 10 commandments in classrooms are the same ones refusing to feed children or forcing teachers to buy their own supplies out of an already meager salary or refusing to do anything about mass shootings.
But it's all good, kids need those 10 commandments, for too long they have been coveting their neighbors' wives and that has to stop. And what better way ...[text shortened]... o describes the right way to own a slave and in what circumstances you should stone a woman to death
(And some misinformed people claim there's no difference between Democrat and Republican... It's actually night and day.)
@AverageJoe1 saidI say if Louisiana wants the Ten Commandments in the classroom, then clearly they wouldn't mind Sharia Law being posted?
I may be late into this one, but I sure would not want muslims or Shia Islams to be posting their ancillaries and theologies. How can posting the christian philosophies not invite that stuff? Let's confuse the children?
@AverageJoe1 saidStill haven't heard of the First Amendment, have you?

Well, here we go again, for the slow ones.
First Amendment
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Religion has no place in the US Government. That includes the Department of Education.
