According to the reports linked below, the publicly funded and allegedly unbiased BBC are not blocking a Unions drive for Corporation staff to show support for Palestine by wearing the colours of Palestine tomorrow, Friday. Whether this will happen or not remains to be seen but there are no reports of the BBC blocking it, which of course they should do being an unbiased news channel. There were 101 staff complaints earlier this year that the BBC reporting was biased towards Israel.
The problem the BBC finds itself in is that it hires across the ethnic spectrum and many have strong views. I’m betting it will all be played down but will still happen for those who want to support it by wearing the colours. What astounds me is the BBC’s apparent lack of corporate governance here - where I previously worked political expression was not permitted in the workplace so blocking stuff like this was easy. You’re fired!
BBC staff quit union after being told to wear colors of Palestinian flag, keffiyeh
- The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) alongside the Trades Union Congress (TUC) reportedly sent out messages asking workers to “wear something red, green, black or a Palestinian keffiyeh”.

It doesn't matter how the BBC handles this situation, someone (or group) will accuse them of being biased.
Glad it's not my problem.
@mchill saidI wish it was my problem because I would sort it within a month.

There would be a corporate statement on neutrality of ALL employees followed by a consultation period and then contract updates. Done.
These things are simple to solve.

What’s wrong with supporting Palestinians.
The Israeli government are a bunch of fascistic ethnic cleansers.
Fvck ‘m.
This is nothing to do with supporting Palestine, it’s about the utter incompetence of the BBC who seem to be incapable of preempting these situations.
@divegeester saidYeah. Right.

Protesting against ethnic cleansing is basically an okay thing to do.
Or have you not comprehended what’s going on yet?
@shavixmir saidPeople have figured it out. .. just not you. Its a war, started by Palestinians whose aim in life is to eliminate aka kill all Jews. So this time they went too far and are paying dearly for it. So now they put their women and children inthe firing line and they are crying genocide.
Yeah. Right.

Unlike the ICC, most of Europe, most of Asia, most of Africa…
Carry on in your little fascist bubble of hatred, whilst children are being murdered.

@shavixmir saidThat would most probably not considered to be an unbiased statement by nearly everybody.

Do you think all unbiased news corporations should allow their on duty staff to make sectarian political statements whilst on the employers premises?
