The standards set and expected by the viewing public in the UK for the BBC are not benchmarked against a random selection of dire quality US broadcasts. Besides, the issue here is not the quality of BBC drama productions, the issue is deep corruption in the news reporting arm of the corporation.
Why was Martin Bashir rehired in 2016 by the BBC, by the then Director G ...[text shortened]... reeks of everything that is bad about socialism style of funding TV broadcasting and I’m sick of it.

No we cannot leave the truth about our leaders to the people who are in cahoots with our leaders.
The BBC are one of the only honest unbiased news outlets in the UK everyone else is owned by Rupert ( the phone tapping, PM bribing ) Murdoch or someone very much like him.
The only real problem the BBC has is that they tell the truth about what our government’s do. The Tories like dive in particular have never forgiven them for telling the truth about M Thatcher and the consequences of Brexit, they think the BBC should trot along and clear every story and editorial with them.
Basically if you take the BBC away all we are left with is FOX news because we have no CNN equivalent’s.
