I am completely in favor of asserting personal sovereignty, but when another human life has started within one's borders, the matter becomes complicated.
Never mind whether human life is "sacred" -- the question is whether human life has any value, legal or otherwise, in our society.
Even if governed by strange cults, the efforts of some to protect the fetus has a strong parallel with secular efforts to protect the innocent in tyrannical and murderous societies.

How about this?: Women (and men) are free to have their tubes tied so that they can enjoy the pleasures of sex without the consequences, and without playing Russian roulette with the life of another.
Especially with the advances in reproductive technology that we enjoy these days, a woman could still later contribute equally to an embryo, or probably even have her tubes untied if she later decides to conceive and would rather carry the baby herself for the full and traditional experience.

Women have the greater power of procreation, so why shouldn't they be the ones to nip things in the bud?
