The price of oil is high because of speculation, not because of a lack of supply.
edit: if you drill now, you'll start pumping just about when prices have bottomed out. And believe me, that will not make a single news headline.
Originally posted by der schwarze Ritterthere arn't enough oil rigs to drill our way out of oil dependancy. We would again need to go to china or japan for their manufacture. By the time we ramp up our production, Obama will be finishing his 2nd term๐, and he will have invested plenty of cash into alternative fuels you dope๐๐
Because everyone knows that if you increase the supply of oil onto the market it will decrease the price at the pump. Only Democrats are in denial about this.

always an excuse for your side huh? Is the left ever wrong?
- The proto-dictatorial Chavez is the darling of the Left. They are wrong to support him.
- The Left dislikes gun ownership which is a key principle underlying American democracy.
- The Left favors the government getting involved in health care -- which drives the cost through the roof.
There are others, but it is getting late.

always an excuse for your side huh? Is the left ever wrong? Anwar (sp?) could be drilled in anytime...that's not the entire solution but it would help people pay for their heat...Come on, isn't the left suppose to be the compasionate side and yet you don't want to help people heat their homes...
Originally posted by NimzovichLarsenHow will drilling help? OPEC controls the flow of oil from their countries. If we increase production, they lower output. Oil prices stay the same, but we have messed up our coastlines and national lands. There is also no guarantee that oil drilled of the coast of California, Texas or Florida would ever see a U.S. market. It would be traded on the world market. So, I ask you once again, how will drilling help.

Hell, the oil companies don't even want to drill. It is not cost effective for them. They would much rather buy oil and refine it and then gouge you at the pump. That is how they make money. They don't make money by paying to build drilling rigs or paying people to maintain them.
Originally posted by der schwarze RitterOh, is that what everyone knows? That must be everyone that doesn't know anything about the oil market.

Originally posted by spruce112358No, it's not sensible. He and the Democrats don't have a plan. They don't want you to be able to drive to work and they would rather you to sit in your house in the dark without running the heat or the AC, because this is what the whacko enviros want and they are beholden to this obnoxious group (along with the unions, the teachers and the trial lawyers).
Very sensible of him.
Originally posted by der schwarze RitterWhy is it that it only seems to be republicans that dont recognise the elephant in the room of vested oil interests, and that in one of the worlds most carefully controlled industries, regardless of what you or I could conjure up as a good plan to decrease the price of gas at the pump, BIG OIL has a way of manipulating some aspect of oil delivery that will always ensure a price that is most advantageous to their own interests. In short the price of oil is purely a function of what BIG OIL wants it to be. Get over it. Move on. Don't let your powerlessness to change that one incontrovertible truth let you lose sleep or have a bad day.
Why are the Democrats so opposed to drilling?
I suppose your party mascot makes you blind to elephants in the room, cos they seem so much like you, you can't fathom the problem.
