How will drilling help? OPEC controls the flow of oil from their countries. If we increase production, they lower output. Oil prices stay the same, but we have messed up our coastlines and national lands. There is also no guarantee that oil drilled of the coast of California, Texas or Florida would ever see a U.S. market. It would be traded on the world market. So, I ask you once again, how will drilling help.

Hell, the oil companies don't even want to drill. It is not cost effective for them. They would much rather buy oil and refine it and then gouge you at the pump. That is how they make money. They don't make money by paying to build drilling rigs or paying people to maintain them.

Why is it that it only seems to be republicans that dont recognise the elephant in the room of vested oil interests, and that in one of the worlds most carefully controlled industries, regardless of what you or I could conjure up as a good plan to decrease the price of gas at the pump, BIG OIL has a way of manipulating some aspect of oil delivery that will always ensure a price that is most advantageous to their own interests. In short the price of oil is purely a function of what BIG OIL wants it to be. Get over it. Move on. Don't let your powerlessness to change that one incontrovertible truth let you lose sleep or have a bad day.
