No, it's not sensible. He and the Democrats don't have a plan. They don't want you to be able to drive to work and they would rather you to sit in your house in the dark without running the heat or the AC, because this is what the whacko enviros want and they are beholden to this obnoxious group (along with the unions, the teachers and the trial lawyers).
You start with a falsehood -- claiming that the Dems hold certain exaggerated beliefs, and then declare that you are against them because of the beliefs they supposedly hold.

If you just mandated that new vehicles get 40 mpg, you would reduce your dependance on foreign oil WAY MORE than you would by drilling for it.

2) Any effects wouldn't be felft for a miniumn of 3 years while new wells were drilled etc.
3) Nuclear won't fuel many cars that are currently on the road.
My point is that we should be much more pro-active in reducing our dependence on oil, period. Now.
