I don't think narrow minded is the right term. Probably 'tribal' would be more appropriate.

Look, there's a lot of information flying around all over the place. No one has the time or energy to synthesize it all and "do their own research" ala COVID and come to independent decisions. They're trusting news sources and pop culture to guide their own opinions.

Critical thinking is hard. It requires identifying ones own biases and getting rid of them. It requires understanding concepts, training in evaluating the validity of information etc. Internet comment board are not changing anyone's mind on anything. We're just spinning our wheels.

There is a plethora of sites explaining subsidies, govt assistance, what have you, which are programs that work. Cash is given to the subject entity, it leads to lower prices for ALL Americans. Wages and social strata are another issue. Yes it has socialist trappings, as many agency programs. We have always agreed that there is socialism in several areas.
