Where is this "official US historical narrative" maintained?

Most Americans surely accept that the US "lost" the Vietnam War even if its forces could not have been militarily defeated by the Vietnamese.

And that changes what I said how?
Reagan was a terrible president, he’s the one who poured gas on the fire Americans are still trying to put out.

To be fair, it was not apparent the war was lost until the final collapse of the US-backed government in Saigon.

No, not to my knowledge.

So you are saying Reagan put US oil companies in Middle East Countries. Reagan did not start the fire and he knew how to a void the conflict. The problems in the Middle East rest at the feet of the Bushes.

Yeah, no way the Afghan People would have resisted the Soviets but/for the CIA.

You need a history lesson.
No one has subdued Afghanistan, not even Alexander. The Afghan people would eventually have driven the Soviets out, without American assistance. That does not change the fact that Reagan made a pact w the devil.

The problems of the ME have been alternately simmering and raging for thousands of years.

More recent polling would be nice but in 2000:

"70% of Americans acknowledge that the United States lost that war[Vietnam]"

https://news.gallup.com/poll/2299/americans-look-back-vietnam-war.aspx

Admittedly, some of the answers to that poll show depressing levels of ignorance of the Vietnam War.

EDIT: Answered the wrong post.

"I love these 'one-shots' appearing suddenly out of the gloom."---Suzianne

It's not just not just me; you're not know on this forum for having wit; hence, why it's a surprise when you finally started to display it. After all, for years you've depended on using "/sarcasm" because you have failed (by your own admission) to display sarcasm on RHP.
