The post that was quoted here has been removedFox News will never become sensible, that's against their business model. Fox came to prominence by feeding the racist, elitist, white national attitudes of conserves. Had Fox News simply reported the news, they would've never became as powerful as they are.
They were never becoming sensible, they simply happen to have a handful of people with integrity still left at Fox News; this doesn't work when you've built yourself as a propaganda machine, and is why their viewers are leaving Fox.
If Fox News ever just starts reporting news in a purely factual, rational basis, they will go out of business.
@kevcvs57 saidI thought that was already pointed out in the articles posted; for example:
Aren’t we missing the point that Fox is being dumped by trump because it wasn’t sycophantic enough to that scumbag.
"Trump, who is livid at Fox for calling Arizona for Biden on Election Night and for not supporting him as slavishly as he would like".
Any lie factory that usurps Fox on the basis of Fox not lying enough is hardly something to celebrate.
The users of Fox aren’t in rehab they are simply looking for a stronger fix.
Celebrating the downfall of Fox News isn't based on some hopeless belief that Fox Viewers will be reformed in their absence. It's based on well deserved Karmic retribution. Plus, this could mean the end of influence Fox News has over politics, since they will no longer have a monopoly on conservative right-wingnuts.
@vivify saidNo an even more right wing reactionary network will have the monopoly on right wing nuts resulting in the right wing nuts being led further to the right.

It’s a bad thing is my point, I don’t have a belief in karma and cannot help thinking it’s a belief system invented by higher castes to keep the lower castes in line.
I’m saying it’s a bad day when Fox News isn’t right wing and dishonest enough for 73 million right wing Americans and their dishonest demagogue.
@kevcvs57 saidIf Fox News goes down, no one will have a monopoly on right-wingnuts any more. There will be multiple outlets competing for their attention instead of that viewership manipulated by one powerful source.

Furthermore, no other outlet has the power of Fox, the broadcasting company, which is now owned by Disney. Any outlets that replace Fox will be nowhere near as powerful as Fox News, and likely will never be.
The downfall of Fox News is at the very least symbolic: the toxic culture they've fostered lead to their own demise.
You said their demise would be a "bad thing". If Fox News *doesn't* go down as a result due to Trump, this would be far worse. It would mean there are no consequences for their poisonous tactics.
@vivify saidWell if their demise was the result of their audience coming to their senses it would be a great thing but the fact that Trump has managed to shift his base so far to the right is a worry to say the least.

I imagine the worst of the Fox line up will follow trump to where ever he decides to spew his bile from and Fox will be to some extent rehabilitated. Fox like Trump didn’t create their audience they just cashed in on a niche in the market.
@kevcvs57 - the fact that Trump has managed to shift his base so far to the right is a worry to say the least.
Kev, he couldn't even consolidate his own base in the congress.
Recall when his first big fix of Obama was healthcare. Remember?
WHO.... in the senate was THE deciding vote to let Obamacare survive?
And it was all downhill from there. My opinion.
Republican John McCain.
@earl-of-trumps saidYou're conflating Republican politicians with Trump's base.

Not all elected Republican officials make up Trump's base. They may appear to be so only because defying Trump may anger his base, hurting their political careers and reelection prospects.
A Republican official who defects from the sheep mindset of Republicans isn't necessarily someone from his "base". Trump's actual base has been moved further to the right since Trump took office, mostly because of him.
The idea that Donald Trump is going to "end" Fox News is laughable. That organization has been going strong for two decades and it used Trump far more than he used it.
Trump will be yesterday's news in a few weeks. His base will splinter and look for someone else to drive their ideological clown car.
@no1marauder saidYou're underestimating how fanatical Trump supporters are. Steve Bannon was forced to resign from his executive position at Breitbart after gaining Trump's ire. The editor of the Christian Post had to resign after righting a negative op-ed about Trump. The reason for these resignations are obvious: to appease angry Trump supporters. Those conservatives outlets' business were threatened had they not resigned.

Trump also plans to start his own rival network to Fox, "Trump TV". Given Trump's business history, it'll probably fail, but not before hitting Fox in the wallet.
Even if Fox News continues, whatever damage Trump can do to Fox is welcomed.
@vivify saidTrump had zero "fanatical supporters" before he became President.

I suspect that soon after he ceases to be President, few will care what happens to him.
Trump's too lazy and cheap to fund any type of "news" organization that could possibly compete with Fox News. It's overwhelmingly likely he's bluffing trying to get FN to be more servile to him during his absurd attempts to overturn the election.
@vivify saidWhen Trump has killed off Fox, and Newsmax and OAN become "the new Fox", will you criticize them as well, or will you just claim "mission accomplished" and be happy with that? Fox News isn't even the "biggest" or the "baddest" of the conservative disinformation networks any more.
