@vivify saidI don't care what the GOP 'thinks". The second most votes means he lost to the first most votes and it wasn't terribly close except for our bizarre Electoral College system. And political developments in the crucial swing States Trump would have to win have only cut the other way - Republicans have lost ground in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan and suffered election setbacks in Arizona and Georgia.
Trump got the second most votes in U.S. history. He had *more* votes after four years of chaos, racism and countless falsehoods.

You think the GOP gives a god damn if Trump goes to prison?
You watch Fox News too much; the chances that a conviction for a felony wouldn't spell doom in a national general election (and for a candidate who is already seen in a negative light by a majority of voters) is slim if not none.
I won $50 for the local Boys and Girls Club from another poster here when I bet Trump would lose in 2020. I am certainly willing to make the same bet IF Republicans are stupid enough to nominate him again which they probably will be.

You are a whining little maggot. A bigot. Constantly mixing up morals, religious beliefs and ethics with financial systems; indoctrinated by fear mongering and hate; unable to face the changing world.
A coward. Always blaming others, instead of looking to see what you, yourself, can do to adapt.

The race was indeed close. 3 states (Wisconsin, Georgia and Arizona) were were decided by a margin of less than one percent. Had Trump won them he would've been reelected. Trump was only 43,000 votes from a 2nd term.
Again: I don't see Trump winning but there's still no reason to act like he's not a viable threat in 2024, prison or not.

Here in Aussie land, anyways.
Of course this will change as time goes by as these are live, at the moment it is:
Joe Biden $2.80, Donald Trump $3.30, Kennedy and Ron Desantis $10.00 each
@shavixmir saidSorry, do not get your point. You suggest that you are not a liberal, I think. I beg to differ.

Since that election, Democrats defeated Trump backed Senate candidates by about 100,000 votes in Georgia and 125,000 in Arizona. While Ron Johnson eked out a win in Wisconsin, after Roe v. Wade was overturned a progressive Democrat crushed a Republican for a seat on the state's Supreme Court by more than 10%.
And all that is before Trump's indictments and likely convictions.

If one but looks at the pros and cons, they EC makes perfect sense. Without it, people in WY would not vote. Don't you get it? People in WY would never be heard from again, they would just send their taxes to govt who would use it to upgrade subway systems 1000 miles away. Jesus.

@averagejoe1 saidActually it's exactly the opposite; if the election was decided by popular vote, a person's vote in Wyoming would mean the same as everyone else's. Now it and the votes of the vast majority of voters mean absolutely nothing as any reasonably close Presidential elections are decided by a small group of "swing" States, so the voters in other States have virtually no say.
The omnipotent Marauder calls the ElecCollege bizarre. I do not see on google where anyone with any IQ calls it bizarre. Uphill battle for Marauder on that one. It Makes sense to me. The changes to the EC since the Constitution was adopted have made it bear no resemblance to what the Framers intended i.e. a small group of electors deciding who the most qualified person to be President was. Since it doesn't even accomplish what it was originally designed to do, is antiquated and no other country has such a system to say it is "bizarre" is accurate.
