No, i didn't believe the average american owns 120 guns. I believe the average american wants reasonable gun control and that includes the conservative rural americans.
The average human has one testicle. That does not mean you will find many humans who have only one testicle. There is no such person as “the average American” who owns 120 [sic] (or 1.2) guns. The reality is that there are many tens of millions of Americans who don’t own any firearms at all, many who own one pistol or a few hunting rifles or shotguns, and then there is a fringe of people who have private armories with thousands of rounds of ammunition. These latter are the problem, and these latter are also the ones with a visceral resistance to any gun control at all. There’s no way of persuading those people to accept gun control, because they always argue that any such legislation is the thin end of a wedge leading to “they’re taking away our God-given rights!” There is no simple solution for America, I’m afraid.

I don't know anyone that has 120 guns, let alone that being the average number of guns owned by people in America.
Where did you get this bizarre claim?
God damn. Read the article boy.

It’s 120 guns per 100 inhabitants. I wrote it down wrong. The difference between the US and the other countries remain the same.

So, for the argument there is no difference.

You must have some numbers then, people that have 50 + gun collections are more likely to commit this or that crime. Or you might find those with the largest collections are the most responsible gun owners least likely to commit this or that crime.

I suspect the latter, but obviously you've got the numbers because you're the one making the assertion.

If it is the latter i.e. owners with 50+ gun collections never commit x crimes we should in fact (according to the stats) be encouraging people to buy more guns.

But you've obviously got the numbers otherwise you wouldn't have made such a statement.

Let's see em.

Everything wrong in the US leads sooner or later to "money is the root of all problems" which is corny but true. As long as you have the NRA and gun lobby pumping millions into buying whores in the house and senate, nothing will change. Without those lobby millions there will be no more incentive to block this. The vast majority of americans aren't lunatics to object to a gun license or to not give guns to people with restraining orders or to not be allowed to sell guns you own on craigslist.

EDIT The solution is simple when it comes to knowing what it is: don't allow money into politics, something most other countries call it what it is: corruption. It's unlikely to ever be done in the foreseeable future but we know what it is

120.5 opinions per inhabitant agree with zahlooney

Edit: Whoah nice edit, we agree on something, it doesn't just happen in the US, and it is corruption, but to get the money out of politics you have to get the politicians out of money. The latest one of course being the billions transferred to the mega medical corps selling the experimental juice. Tell me there are no back handers going on. Multi million dollar campaigns for six figure salaries, favours are being sold.

Do you collect anything, art, vintage, new, different styles, publishers, cars. Do you fix up, dress up, enjoy using safely and carefully? We all live in different areas, maybe it’s where you live and their use there? The problem for you is that because you don’t like or understand something it must be wrong. For these people it’s not illegal, unlike the ones in the hands of people you should be concerned about.
Have you thought of that people enjoy the styles, art of, enjoy target shooting different calibers, their not all the same. Also being safe and proficient without accidents. Sooo in these cases if you enjoy this with different calibers, collecting, target shooting , you do buy bulk because it’s cheaper and goes fast and it’s not all for one gun?? Paint your picture but put thought into it.

But you are ok with there being more guns per person than the entire population of the US? And no matter how many people get killed by gunmen, we have FREEDOM, right? Freedom to DIE.

Oh, the scum don’t like your post.

You know what they say? If the extreme right do like your post, it’s time to do some soul searching.

There's something creeping into your brain zahlooney and I like where it's going.

The fewer things politicians control the less it matters who controls them

We don't make laws for the people that use something responsibly. We make them for those that don't.

If you use guns responsibly, you will be able to use them just the same after you pass through gun control checks. If you're not insane, if you don't have restraining orders against you, if you don't have a history of violence and so on.

As for the guns deemed unsuitable for civilian use, have a coke and a smile and shut the fuk up. You can't keep leopards as pets no matter how responsible pet owner you have, you can't drive actual tanks on public roads, you can't do a lot of things. You will get over it.

Analogy Fail Analogy Fail Analogy Fail

You can own a tank, and there are roads you can drive it on. Arnold Terminator famously had a tank that he used for flattening things and there are many tanks in private hands. And of course people do own all sorts of weird exotic pets including deadly snakes.

Please improve your analogies.
